Gowwd… this so resonated with me. Like a cathedral bell inside my head, banging me into some awakened state. It’s slowly dawning on me that it’s time for another change in the way I live my life. Here I was thinking, I got this. I know what’s going on and I’m prepared for it. I have skills enough to recognise what it’s doing to me. Well, let me tell you. No matter how prepared and skilled you think you are, you can be fooled given enough time. As an unlikable army intelligence instructor I once had to endure was fond of saying: ‘The system, given enough time and resources, will always break you.’ And it’s hard these days to recognised, among all of those we’re subjected to, which system is brainwashing because there’s so much noise generated around it.

- finding common ground is essential, as is nurturing empathy in all parties.- I sumbit that:

- theologans are a fine source of information regarding tried-and-tested methods of creating inclusive "in-groups".
- lesser groups that depend upon cohesive thinking like cults, militaries, resistance or political groups, corporate entities, and so forth, are all worthy of consideration too. The real nuggets of gold are finding the "happy-clappy" groups that manage to absorb & bestow happiness upon their adversaries. Not sure where one finds such groups though (outside http://mathstodon.xyz obviously).- I'd love to know if anyone has come across any "threads" that are interesting to pull at, or salient web-search terms that are a good start, in reading about such things.

Got Donald Shoup's "The High Cost of Free Parking" in Libby as an audiobook. A very depressing listen on the #UpperWestSide. We'd so benefit by smart meters but they will never happen because the money would go into a central fund and never benefit the local area. Must be happy with elimination of #ParkingMinimums. Do love the #groupthink analogies with doctors prescribing lead because that's what they all do.

A *backfire effect* occurs when l make the mistake of thinking that the evidence, that logical reasoning, will result in the behaviour change of another person's unethical activities (caused by their associated beliefs), but instead, the person feels threatened (e.g., offended) by the evidence, & "holds" onto their mistaken beliefs.
I.e., l aim to change their minds using the evidence but the opposite happens; due to how the evidence offends them
