I created Sup because Mastodon and Pixelfed never really focused on Direct Messages/Group Chats, and now my vision of making this a first class feature is taking shape with Loops.
I understand though, both Mastodon and Pixelfed were created in 2016/2018 and it was a very different time.
People want more intimate 3rd spaces, and so we will adapt ✨

This made my week.
I spent a lot of time planning and designing the Loops Direct Messages/Group Chat feature, and was inspired to fix the shortcomings in Pixelfed's DM feature, like missing Group Chats.
It was really complicated to get right with other fediverse platforms because they all do things differently, but I made it work, and even found some bugs in other projects.
People love DMs/Group Chats, so let's deliver 🚀

Direct Messages and Group Chats are first class features in Loops.

End to end encryption will be coming to Loops, Pixelfed and Sup 🔥
We are also working on a few new extensions to improve the experience, like renaming the group chat, changing the background, emoji reactions and more!

It's about time that #Signal is working on features to manage #groupchats with parallel discussions. 😞
It is really a drag when there are multiple threads ongoing at the same time. Although the tech could handle Signal group #chats with more than maybe ten people, the UX prevents me from participating.
The bummer was when we left #Usenet. Almost any issue with online discussions was solved beautifully back then. Then we started to come up with mediocre and primitive alternatives. 🤷

I always get the erge to message group chats at odd times.
I've been doing bits for @transpride mainly at night at the moment as my sleep is messed up again. I just now want to message the group chat about the progress on things.

#Groupchats, while being a good way to meet new people, will not sustain relationships created in real life. The constant need to find something, no matter how trivial or irrelevant, to talk about... The absence of social cues across the screen... The lack of a living presence listening on the other end... It's awful for #communication. I'd cut it out early, opt to meet in person when it's available to do so, and restart my #relationship anew.

I figured it out all I had to do to delete unwanted rooms and #groupchats, was go to the bookmark menu and delete them from there. So problem solved #gajim

Please, my biggest problem with #Gajim is that I can't delete #groupchats that I've mistakenly made. It doesn't matter if I edit the configuration files in .config. Nothing I've tried even remotely works. I know that only a few of use Gajim anymore but so you have a solution to my dilemma? Those documents, if out there, existing, are well hidden. #gajim
