  1. January was a record month for us in active contributors. We had...
Four editors to the main-namespace, not counting @[email protected] admins making changes to the backend. That is a far cry from big wikis, but it is still more than our previous record of three unique editors in a single month, achieved in September 2022.

Moreover, three of our four editors last month were new to the wiki!

The surge in contributions was due to the Indie Wiki Jam: thanks to
@[email protected] and the other organizers, and thanks to everyone who contributed during the jam!

Please check out the wikis run by our new contributors:

  2. The future of @[email protected] seems less certain than ever to me. Though I had hoped to put this off for a few more months, I think it's time I publicly discuss possible migration paths.

I have officially submitted an application to Grifkuba, run by the awesome
@[email protected] . That doesn't mean Grifkuba is definitely going to be our permanent home: even if we are accepted I am still open to considering other options.

With that said, there *aren't* many options for hosting wikis about queer non-game media, and all other possible hosts I've evaluated have some very large drawback. So I really do hope Grifkuba works out for us.

Other possibilities I've considered but do not think are appropriate include:
a)Amelia's proposed transfem.org wiki hosting: This sounds awesome but it doesn't actually exist yet.

b)ShoutWiki: No https and wouldn't allow us to keep our domain.

c)WikiTide: Just as unstable as Miraheze and might be merging with Miraheze, so it's not really an alternative.

d)Amazing Wikis: The technology looks nice, but reading their code of conduct I see a
lot of right-wing dogwhistles, and interpreted strictly it would require us to allow transphobes to participate. I don't believe this host is safe for trans catfolk, which is our audience.

e)MyWikis: Very expensive if we want to keep our domain, and even more expensive to have decent customization.

f)Wiki.gg or AXBY: Only allow wikis about video games.

g)Self-hosting MediaWiki is beyond my capabilities as a non-tech person.

If we are fortunate enough to move to Grifkuba, I'm hoping the move can happen after IWJ. That means Miraheze needs to survive for one more month.
