STOP FEEDING CONFLICT
I did the A Course in Miracles Workbook for years.
Over and over.
I understood many of the lessons.
I valued them.
But I did not find lasting peace through them.
The mind could still turn a grievance, a fear, or an argument into a full-on unsettling production.
Then I began answering mental conflict with two simple words:
NO COMMENT.
I had no idea whether something so simple would work.
I only hoped it might.
What I did not yet realise was that all those years of doing the Workbook, however poorly, had trained my mind to listen to me.
So when I said NO COMMENT, and kept saying it, the mind eventually got the message.
Not as suppression.
Not as denial.
Not even as another argument with the ego.
Just no participation.
A thought appears.
NO COMMENT.
A grievance starts gathering evidence.
NO COMMENT.
Fear wants a hearing.
NO COMMENT.
For me, this simple practice has now replaced the Workbook.
Not the Text.
Not the Manual for Teachers.
I still need those because they explain the thought system and remind me not to make up my own spirituality.
My daily practice has become very simple now.
The Workbook trained my mind to listen to me.
NO COMMENT gives it one clear instruction:
Stop feeding conflict.
That is where the peace began.

HOT SAUCE APOCALYPSE
Yesterday the lunch place had run out of hot sauce.
In Australia, this is barely news.
Aussies don’t really do hot sauce.
But some of us do.
Some of us have built whole fragile emotional ecosystems around a few drops of chilli on lunch.
I agreed to sweet chilli sauce instead, because apparently I am very mature.
But I did register my disappointment with the manageress.
Politely.
Firmly.
Historically.
Then I went for my walk.
Then I did my breathwork.
Then I noticed the day still had a slight dent in it.
This caught me off guard.
I had only just been saying that everything is perfect all the time now.
Apparently, “everything” includes the lunch place running out of hot sauce and me quietly wanting the owner told so this national disgrace never happens again.
That is how the ego works.
It does not just want lunch.
It wants justice.
And there it was.
Not a catastrophe.
Not a spiritual failure.
Just a tiny place where preference had turned into grievance.
The hot sauce was missing.
The peace was not.
I had simply misplaced it for a moment under the sweet chilli sauce.

SIMPLY DO THIS
The truth simplifies everything.
You don’t need to be kind because it is a moral duty.
You don’t need to be kind because it makes you spiritual.
You don’t need to be kind because it improves the self.
In reality, kindness is all that remains available.
The unkindness was the complication.
Fear, defence, grievance, specialness, needing to be right, needing to win, needing to be safe.
All of that makes kindness seem like a choice.
But when defence falls quiet, kindness is not manufactured.
It is simply what is left.
So the question becomes very simple:
What is the kind thing now?
Say less.
Soften the tone.
Tell the truth.
Leave the door open.
Put the fire on.
Feed the dog.
Drink the coffee.
Do nothing.
Simply do this.

CLIMBING DOWN
#Hirayama, in #Perfect Days, is not a failed climber.
He is someone who saw the #ladder clearly and stopped obeying it.
That is a very different thing.
The world keeps whispering: more #status, more #usefulness, more #achievement, more #improvement, more #proof that the self is becoming something.
No one has to #whip us anymore. We do it internally and call it ambition.
Hirayama’s freedom is not that he cleans #toilets. That could easily be another prison.
His freedom is that he is not using his life to become impressive.
Water does not need to win.
The useless #tree does not need to justify its #existence.
And “I need do nothing” does not mean sitting around uselessly. It means I do not need to #manufacture a self.
The #body can #clean, #breathe, #walk, make #coffee, light #fires, put #shoes on, feed #dogs, and #love the ones nearby.
But there does not have to be a grand inner project of becoming #Worthy
Simple living is not automatically #holy.
Low status is not #awakening.
A small life can still be full of #grievance, vanity and comparison.
But a life without #comparison ?
That is #freedom.
Maybe the real act is not #climbingdown.
Maybe it is stopping the argument with where I am.

Are you #morons? That would be a gift to Dear Leader and his #lickspittle #Congress. The #SOTU would be Mango Mussolini speaking to a friendly crowd, all happy, applauding, not a contrary expression to be seen. He'll be happy, smiling, at his most congenial as he basks in the warm glow. You do not do this.
What you do is attend. Every #Democratic #house member and #senator. Every staffer and guest that they're entitled to bring. Everyone. You put them all in their assigned places.
And then, when Trump gets up to speak, every single one of them simply turns away from the dictator. Turn their back to him, and *stay* that way for the whole speech. The #optics are great; the cameras show half the crowd with their backs to him, in obvious #protest. The #tyrant has to look at it all through his speech. He's angry. He's spiteful. He puts on a display for the ages, goes off-script, airing every #grievance his Swiss-cheese mind can dredge up. His body language is hostile. #Media coverage shows the event for what it actually is: a #vengeful, #lawless #authoritarian trying to verbally browbeat the legislative branch into submission.

Somewhere along the way, I came across the 2025 Edelman Trust Barometer 2025 - it's worth a look.
The fact is, it's a pretty depressing read! They call it a crisis of grievance. As I've been saying - that tracks.
What are the findings? 3 key facts.
Fact 1: Majority hold grievances against government, business, and the rich
Sixty-one percent globally have a moderate or high sense of grievance, which is defined by a belief that government and business make their lives harder and serve narrow interests, and wealthy people benefit unfairly from the system.Fact 2: Widespread grievance is eroding trust across the board
Those with a high sense of grievance distrust all four institutions (business, government, media, and NGOs).Fact 3: Hostile activism is seen as a legitimate tool to drive change
To bring about change, 4 in 10 would approve of one or more of the following forms of hostile activism: attacking people online, intentionally spreading disinformation, threatening or committing violence, damaging public or private property. This sentiment is most prevalent among respondents ages 18-34 (53 percent approve of at least one).The report makes plain that over a decade of crises have helped to fuel this crisis of grievance.
So where does it leave us? We are witnessing nothing short of a societal transformation – one driven by a profound crisis of grievance that threatens to reshape our institutions, our economy, and our very future! And we all know we are living through this in real-time, since we know that a mindset of grievance is driving a lot of the change swirling around us right now.
