  1. DOE allocates $160 million to secure energy systems as cyber threats converge with grid modernization

The U.S. Department of Energy’s FY 2027 budget frames cybersecurity as a core pillar of national energy security,…

  2. Breaking down EIP’s $1.36bn climate fund
This is growth capital aimed at the “missing middle”—the point where proven tech needs customers, not just code. Utilities in the LP base = pathways to deployment. We unpack the thesis, portfolio signals, and risks.

  8. EnergyCentral: "Highway fast-charging systems could require the same power as a small town. Are we ready for that?" Journalist Christopher Neely offers comparisons of future electric vehicle demand to loads of 5 megawatts [MW] for a stadium, 20 MW for a small town + 40 MW for a large industrial plant. "A future where highways are occupied mainly by electric vehicles has drawn equal degrees of excitement and concern." Study from National Grid, the Electric Highways Study, urges rapid upgrading of grid to begin now. ""On the busiest hours of the year, a highway fast-charging site could require the same amount of electricity as a sports stadium or even a small town." This demand would include passenger cars but also electric truck + heavy-duty vehicles from public + private fleets. Fortunately, many high-voltage transmission systems are located along the country's highways. Decarbonization + electrification must go hand in hand. For balance, 98% of my charging is accomplished by the level 2 or 240 volt charger in my garage. With robust solar at home, most of what powers my EV is sunshine. #electricvehicles #gridmodernization #climatechange
