GRIDMAN Universe is a very indulgent movie. It gives you all the best hits of both GRIDMAN and DYNAZENON; it also gives you a LOT of fanservice - and by that I mean the mecha anime definition of just seeing cool robots beat the FUCK out of kaiju and each other...and maybe small sprinklings of the other definition too (not too egregious at least).
But at least it's a good kind of indulgence - like how I'd feel after being able to enjoy an entire tub of ice cream; GRIDMAN Universe was REALLY enjoyable and fun to watch from beginning to end. Plus TRIGGER didn't forget to include some genuinely cool moments too - from Hibiki's massive trip as the world continues to glitch out in front of him, how they handled Akane Shinjo, and how the relationships between Hibiki and Rikka along with Yume and Yomogi play out.
