Dorenas World, the oldest German-speaking grid and the third-oldest of all grids, is going to celebrate its 16th anniversary this week. Due to real-life influences, the schedule is somewhat cut short.

I'm really curious about OSgrid's 18th birthday this year. Not so much because this is the first time that an OpenSim grid celebrates its 18th anniversary, but rather because I want to see how many exhibits it'll have.

The last years, it has always been the same. OSgrid set up four varsims with over a dozen parcels for exhibits each year. When the birthday celebrations started, one was usually fully booked, one was partially booked, and the other two were shut down again. Last year already, I think the second sim had something like three parcels in use.

This year will be the first celebration since the Asset Reset. Since OSgrid's asset server went completely haywire, causing loads of people to move to other grids. And since OSgrid as a whole was shut down indefinitely for the asset server to be purged and rebuilt from the ground up which caused even more people to move to other grids.

Let's just say the days of OSgrid being the biggest in anything are over. Even if Hypergrid Business no longer publishes stats, I guess it's clear that the Wolf Territories are number one now.

This also means that OSgrid will probably have even fewer exhibitors this year.

I also wonder if any of the previous events will have an effect on OSG18B. I mean, last OpenSimFest was a half-dud already. The one before had lost exhibitors due to its change of concept, and the last one was cannibalised by the OpenSim World's Fair with its enormous varsim with dozens upon dozens of parcels which was booked almost fully.

On the other hand, we haven't had any longer events in a while, and even the last Hypergrid International Expo which, if I recall correctly, was after World's Fair and OSFest, was chock-full with mostly brand-new booths. But these events were grid-independent, and OSG18B is obviously OSgrid-only.

OSG18B will start on Friday. We'll see then.

Yesterday 15 years ago, Dorenas World was officially launched and connected to the Hypergrid. Today it is the oldest still existing German OpenSim grid, the third-oldest grid overall and the only German grid that has ever managed to exist for 15 years. Starting today and until Sunday, this anniversary will be celebrated with four days of live and DJ events.

These will be some busy days for @Juno Rowland and me in OpenSim...

Right now, the @HG Safari is visiting us at Atlas in Dorenas World. About two dozen avatars on a packed standard region of 256x256m. In fact, some have crossed into neighbouring sims, probably without even noticing. It doesn't help that it's night during the whole hour of their visit.

Right afterwards, we're off to the on-going weekly party over on Dereos.

In fact, today is the official 15th anniversary of Dorenas World. It's the only German grid that has ever managed to live for this long, and it's the third-oldest surviving OpenSim grid now. Only OSgrid, the first public grid from 2007, and AnSky Grid are older.

The anniversary will be celebrated from tomorrow on until Sunday. I'll post the schedule later. Just so much: We've finally managed to get @Rogue Galaxy to perform here.

And next week, on January 25th, Dereos will celebrate its 10th anniversary on a sim built for the occasion..

OSgrid is celebrating its 17th birthday, and I took the opportunity for a first image post on my (streams) channel, showing two pictures of my in-world sister, @Juno Rowland.

This time, for experimental purposes, I'm going to link directly to the post. I may link to my channel instead next time. I'll have to find a way of notifying Mastodon users of new posts on (streams) without Mastodon generating a preview image without eye contact.

However, as long as nobody on Mastodon is following my (streams) channel, I can't test what Mastodon does with my (streams) posts themselves. (Beware if you want to follow my (streams) channel: It is limited in topic to OpenSim. No Fediverse stuff, no real-life stuff, only OpenSim.)

We are at Event Plaza, OSgrids's official main event location. The floor below us is silver; the light gives it a rose tint.

To the left of and behind Juno, there is a light grey side table made out of an unknown material with two twisted legs. The table carries a glow-in-the-dark sales box that gives away two corsages for women. It shows a photographic texture with a red rose, surrounded by smaller white flowers, and a pink rose, surrounded by smaller yellow flowers, both on white fabric that's shaped to resemble rose petals. The writing says, "TOUCH for your CORSAGE".

Above the sales box, the blurry white "HAPPY BIRTHDAY OSGRID" banner hovering above the landing-place can be seen with a large snowflake above the letter Y from which three lines of smaller snowflakes lead downward. To the left of the sales box, there is a blurry bunch of golden balloons and the black roof of a sales booth where women's tank tops like the one that Juno is wearing, men's T-shirts with the same print, both in both black and white, and black top hats can be acquired for free.

Behind me, slightly closer to the observer than the side table, there's a light grey planter made of an unknown shiny material with a tall fern in it. Behind the planter and the side table, a rosebush hedge with an ellipticall cross-section surrounds the place.

Otherwise, the left and centre background shows pine and oak trees, and the background to the right is taken up by a steep green hill. Four more blurry golden balloons line the upper edge of the image.

The sky transitions from wine red with a few purple clouds downwards to purple and, right above the horizon and behind the trees and the hill, to sky blue. The sun, way to the right outside the image, is fixed at sunset.
