And the Grenfell disaster still has the power to shock:
The cladding company Arconic paid more to shareholders for the financial damage caused by their role in the fire than they paid to the actual victims....
Given that the insurers paid out most of the money, it makes it all the clearer that investors' economic welfare is regarded as more costly than the loss of real lives.
This is capitalism at its sociopathic worse!

OK so this is London (Grenfell) but it can happen anywhere in the UK. The system favours the rentiers. See English water and other for examples.

In the slow moving programme to hold someone (anyone!) to account for the death at the Grenfell Tower fire, the police have reached the stage of passing CPS charges against 77 companies (and individuals) for potential wrongdoing.
However, trials are some time off & so once again we are left with justice still being delayed meaning justice is still being denied.

There are two stories in the news today that will be cemented in the public’s brains as bywords for epic private sector exploitation and gross incompetence: #HS2 and #Grenfell.
Let us not forget they happened under the #Tories watch.
Accountability still seems very far off.
