She was also recognized for her directorial debut with Passing, based on the 1929 by Nella Larsen. Her great-grandfather John William Ewing, had been born into slavery. After the American Civil War, he became a prominent figure in the black community of Washington, D.C.

I watched two films this week with wonderful performances by German Actress Sandra Hüller.
In Zone of Interest she plays Helga, wife of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss. In Anatomy of a Fall, a film written specifically for her, she plays a woman suspected of her husbands murder.
“Meryl Streep says you have to love every character whether they are evil or not. I thought about that for a very long time, and while I love and adore Meryl and everything she’s done, I don’t think I agree. I didn’t love Hedwig Höss, and I never will.”
She is certainly one to watch
