  1. Good Morning!

Purple loosestrife fronting the cattails on the dike trail at #GreatMeadows this past August. (remind me some day that I should post about cattail sex - it's quite interesting) #BloomScrolling #PurpleLoosestrife #GoodMorning

  2. #SilentSunday at #GreatMeadows where all you hear are the bees, a few marsh wren, sometimes a bull frog, and maybe the squak of a heron.

  3. Good Morning.

Cattails and common nettle at the #GreatMeadows last night. Last week, the cattails were still completely brown and the nettle barely recognizable. #nature #NaturalWonders #GetOutside

  4. Good morning.

Another wildflower from the #GreatMeadows. This is tower mustard. Love the dark green leaves and then that long stalk with the cute white flowers. #bloomscrolling #getoutside

  5. Calm after the storm. We finally got back to Great Meadows, something that we walked every Sunday am for years until life got in the way. So many birds, especially as identified by eBird, plus many muskrats and a great northern water snake. The Concord River is inches away from flooding the dike trail, and is actually flowing into the lower end of the impoundment allowing carp to swim in where they're likely to get stuck and become osprey food. #getoutside #GreatMeadows #nature #NaturalWonders #SilentSunday

  6. 18 mute swans out in the impound of #GreatMeadows this afternoon - zoom and you may see 10 or 12. Red-winged blackbirds have begun migrating thru. River not as swollen as expected. #getoutside #wildlife

  7. #SilentSunday, except for the sounds of mallards feeding in the rushes, mute swans wings as they flew overhead and the splashed, the squawk of two blue heron, and the tympanic sound of the ice as we skittled small stones across it. This is at #GreatMeadows. #GetOutside

  8. From #GreatMeadows, which might become a regular Sunday outing once again. Locust borer, Concord grapes, leopard frog, and too many colors of green in the impound. #getoutside #insect #frog #WildGrapes #AmericanLotus #nature

  9. Finally, everyone is healthy enough for an outing, so we went back to #GreatMeadows, a place that we visited every Sunday morning for about 10 years. Today, the American Lotus is setting fruit. There is wild rice spreading thru the impound, and if you step off path, you're very likely to have company. #getoutside #AmericanLotus #WildRice #LeopardFrog #watersnakes

  14. The Concord River has flooded, and both ends of the dike trail that cross the impound are under water. No birds out this afternoon, maybe because in spite of sun and pretty clouds it was low 20Β°s F wind chill - there were white caps in the impound. #getoutside #greatmeadows #Concord #River #blusteryday

  15. A mostly #silentsunday at #greatmeadows with only the calls of geese, red-winged blackbirds, swans, mallards, wood ducks, goldeneyes, chickadee, song sparrows. The beaver lodge has been there for ages. There used to be lots of muskrat push-ups, but they have disappeared over the last 2 years. #getoutside #getoutdoors #notabirder

  16. From yesterday's late afternoon stoll around #greatmeadows One early sign of spring is the presence of fresh beaver scent mounds. #beavers #marshland #getoutside
