What does it say about me that I am more immediately saddened by the departure of Tim than I am of Dolly? Don't get me wrong, they were both great, but I have a lot more fond memories of the former being iconic than the latte. Probably just a circumstance of location and background, as well as maybe a precocious predeliction for Transylvanian Transsexuals?!

Couples

Rudolph Nureyev was an admirer of Erik Bruhn, the celebrated Danish dancer whose performances he had seen on tape when the Dane had performed in Russia with the American Ballet Theatre. After Nureyev defected to the West in 1961 the two met, and although stylistically the two dancers were very different, offstage they became a couple and remained together for 25 years, until Bruhn's death in 1986. Nureyev considered Bruhn the great love of his life.

I've just heard a trailer on #BBCr4 for a programme that asks "What makes a great life?"

Anyone who lives their life in love and service has a great life. That rules me out, but I can nominate very many people for the accolade, and hardly any of them are famous.
