80th Ave NE between Bothell Way and NE 185th in Kenmore - a bike route currently being improved with new construction for both sidewalks, improved bike lanes, and traffic calming - is going to be CLOSED to all but local traffic for a month starting August 24th.

I will drop a new maps release on Friday to reflect this, as it is a durable actual closure to all but local traffic only.

When: August 24 - September 24
Where: 80th Avenue NE between NE 185th Street and SR522. Detour route: on NE 192nd to SR522 via 73rd Avenue NE.
Why: To safely complete the ongoing roadway construction for the 80th Avenue NE Pedestrian and Bicycle Project.

Tomorrow I will check 5th Ave NE in Shoreline near Shoreline South light rail station. That got sketched out (with marker paint on pavemenet) about the same time 61st NE did, so hopefully they're going too.

I just edited some of the absolutely oldest lines on this map. With the exception of one block south of 193rd, 61st Ave NE northern bike lanes are OPEN.

Now Briar just has to get its act together and we really will be in business.

(61st Ave NE in Kenmore. There’s still a block long gap between new and existing lanes but that whole area still needs painting in general. Also there are crosswalks awaiting paint all along the street.)

More incoming map news:

100th Ave NE in Bothell kinda had bike lanes for ages already, but they were unmarked. Thanks I guess to the intersection work at 145th they finally got at least one marking so I can put them on the map.

AND

The new bike lanes on 100th in north Juanita are off road, fully protected, _and_ extended south a block that might not sound like much but _really matters_ because you're to the shop sidewalks. Spectacular.

So the best way to the Juanita Row 1/2/etc shopping area is _clearly_ now Waynita Way, even with the construction in progress just south of the bridge before the bike lanes start. This is a major corridor waiting to happen, and Bothell _needs_ to close that north gap.

@sdwilsh I got a look at it on Google Maps and remembered it immediately from being there earlier this year - I was all "oh, THAT thing." So I'm gonna add it but I'm gonna add it as half regular bike lane and half sharrow and hopefully people will figure it out. Or at least be alerted that there's weird shit there.

...okay it's a 5° climb for 0.3 miles but why is the lowest-traffic way out of downtown Kirkland which takes you east _over_ 405 _not_ on the Eastside 2 Line Connector map?

It's even painted as sharrowed

ETA: OH WAIT WAIT I GET IT OKAY my bad

this is part of the changes they made in map marking that I dislike. it's totally there. a little bit of it is _wrong_, but it's there. and regardless, I can improve it, so I will in 2.0.9
