Been thinking all day about how my #greasySpoon diner #breakfast was particularly good today.
Eggs were eggy, bacon both salty & smokey (rare lately) and potatoes tasty, firm and non-greasy. The coffee was fine for a change. The toast was inoffensive at best.
The little diner (Mello's Cafe) is not predictably open lately, as the proprietor has eldercare challenges with his dad, but Saturday breakfast still seems to happen.
Basic eggy breakfast is easy, but not often more than alright.

Downtown for a greasy spoon breakfast this morning. We get out to Bramasole Diner only a couple of times a year, one of them usually being Canada Day, which isn't far off.
Don't recognize any regular staff serving today. One on her first day. Recognizable long-serving staff on the grill.

We have the luxury of three #breakfast places within a five minute walk.
One is a huge American breakfast chain we've never patronized. Another is a sports bar with a billion distracting TVs and a high potential for surly toddlers. The third is a frozen-in-time 1960s #greasySpoon with few tables and questionable hygiene, but cheap prices and a very good eggs-bacon-and-potatoes game.
We had the greasy-spoon for lunch this week, so it's the sports-bar place.

Yay - the Saturday morning weather is nice enough to even try the drafty restaurants again.

Loving being a short walk from a #greasySpoon/diner again. In Westboro we had Andy's when we first arrived, but it succumbed to the yoga shops and espresso bars a few years after.
Now we have Mello's in our new 'hood. We were already occasional patrons, but now it's a great spontaneous option for when we don't have lunch easily handy. Not many places like this remain anymore, and this will probably not last the decade either.
