@pearofdoom No, but welcome to the #Grandstream family 😁 I think it's now @alex , Elliot (no idea where he is on Mastodon), and myself.
And I am extremely pleasantly surprised with these things -
@buersten
Ich würde eine reine SIP-Lösung z.B. #FreePBX oder von #Unifi nehmen.Bei uns läuft eine FreePBX auf einem #RaspberryPi und als Clients verwenden wir Geräte von #Grandstream.

New #WiFi 6 set up at home in preparation for moving to a bigger home.
I think it was @alex that suggested #GrandStream. Very happy with this setup! 🙇♂️ -
#GrandStream seems pretty good for the price of a #WiFi controller/acces-point system

What am I fishing for here? #telephone calls 😁
This is all above board (as its internal monitoring)- but old tech way is surprisingly most GDPR compliant - it separates call metadata (which I don't want, I can get that from other sources) from audio which I do want.
I'm not even interested in exact *content* of calls here, what I'm monitoring is overall audio quality to make sure nothing is glitched / daleked at our end now calls are 100% #VOIP (alas, I can't do anything about ropey #LTE networks our staff and service users might be using)
I'm also testing how #Grandstream #ATA and cloud #PBX handle long telephone calls (such as intercept feed from the other #PBX)
Contents of #tape are not kept long term, they are be erased once I've assessed the audio quality..

#AbsoluteUnit of #DECT #telephone set from #Motorola - updated version of BT Elements with rugged case, long antenna and separate (analogue) base unit (not shown in photos as its currently hanging off map pins on my office notice board with confidential stuff on it)
Got 200+ metres range even with base unit quite low down (my office is in a dip) and position not exactly optimised for RF, could make calls from adjacent housing estate - from a distance it does look rather like an #Airwave terminal, resisting temptation to stand at top of road and watch leadfoots slow down 😁
Connected to #Grandstream ATA, also works well in next door office, so I can now move between both and keep same extension number
About £70 with base station, might also be good for #CCC and #EMF type events?

#Telephone set #BritishTelecom 8746 now with replaced 21A microphone insert, working correctly with #Grandstream #HT802 v2 ATA linked to #FreePBX I built on cloud VPS - accepts both #MF (tone) and #LoopDisconnect #dialling (although dialling a full UK mobile number is quite a long process and I had to make sure the timer was at least 4 seconds (or the digits get sent to register before you've dialled any 0 and call fails due to wrong number being sent to #PBX !)
Ring voltage (set to 55V RMS) is strong enough to ring the 4k bell in 8746
So currently this corner of the office looks like its back in 1980s 😁

Been deep in the homelab lately, ergo the quiet :)
Almost done building a full multi-VLAN network: Guest, IoT, Media — all isolated and humming.
Snagged a used Zyxel GS1900-24HP switch + a Grandstream GWN7660E AP — both running like a dream (aside from a small surprise from a switch when it comes to noise). As well, couldn't recommend the AP more!
Some cable management left to be sorted out, but soon 😆

Oh good... Setting up my brand new #Grandstream phone. It forces you to change the default admin password as soon as you log in (fair enough, but a tiny bit annoying), so I do that. Set up the whole thing, save changes and reboot. I then try to log in with the new password, doesn't work. So I try the factory password which lets me in. It then demands that I change the password, for which I need to input the current password. It accepts neither password as "current". Argh!
-
Tried the #Grandstream one more time and just can't get it to work with my clients. It "feels" like its my clients that are older and maybe the way the #Grandstream goes about stuff, but clients just hate! Or I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. Maybe next time! To the #basura

@train After replacing my full Unifi switch 16 150W with a Grandstream GWN7822P (24 multigig, 4 SFP+, 360W), I replaced both my Unifi AC-PRO APs with Grandstream GWN7665 (WiFi 6E) and we are very happy with the performance and coverage. @apalrd did a great video on #Grandstream WiFi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SyxGNT4o5M

another update on the #Grandstream WP826 (hardware VOIP phone), the latest stable firmware is not sufficiently stable for mission-critical applications, in that it can still get into states where it drops registration and the like. however, the encouraging thing is that new stable firmware releases seem to happen every couple months.

Driven by pure curiosity, I decided to buy the cheapest gigabit switch from Grandstream. For a truly small amount of money, I became the owner of the GWN7700 model, which features five Ethernet ports. I was intrigued by the question of what chip is inside... I wondered if Grandstream uses some cheap Chinese-made solution in their budget models. The manufacturer doesn't boast about what solution they use in the specifications ;/

[1.0.25.10][APNAME] daemon.warn: ACCOUNT: AcctAddRaw: key(70ee506b5f6cESSIDNAME) has been already exist!
Uh, what, access point, do you want from me now?
Anyone know what to do to get this to shut up, or just "ignore"? I mean, it's only a log message, but heck, those APs produce A LOT of them. Like 9000 per hour PER AP, if you forward all syslog levels, still about 1000 if you only take "warning and higher".
-
Where my #grandstream homies at? I have an HT818 that I'm trying to get to let some old modems connect with. Apparently you're supposed to turn off VAP and echo cancellation and force it to PCMU (g711), and set jitter to medium and automatic. I've still got a lot of delay on the line and the modems won't handshake. Any ideas? #ATA #help #support #tech #stumped
-
Oh man. #Grandstream, Access Point. You can configure to send alerts to a #mail recipient. Nice.
Except, whoever idiot implemented it, has been a *bit* to eager on "Lets force this secure".
The mail relay you want to use MUST support #STARTTLS. It MUST support #login with user/pass. You MAY skip validating the certificate.NO way to tell it "Nope, mailrelay is local, it really does not need any login and no, it DOES NOT support tls". Just no way.
Useless.
-
@zrail That's the one iffy piece for me. The switches have the option of a local on-device controller, but the APs don't.
For what I'm looking to do, it may not be a big deal, but something I have to discuss with others here. I'm trying to balance features with ease of use and simplicity.
I've seen #Ruckus come up in a few conversations, as well as #Grandstream and #EnGenius as other options in this space.

Das Festnetz-Telefon (ja, sowas haben wir) habe ich ganz fantasielos angebunden, das läuft jetzt über einen (gebraucht gekauften) #Grandstream HT801 #SIP-Adapter.
