  1. It's good time to read Graham Greene.

I read "The Power and the Glory" in my late teens / early 20s (I don't recall the exact year), and was deeply moved by it. I'm not sure it would land the same way now. Your mileage may vary.

If you've never read Greene before and you're over 25, I would warmly recommend "A Burnt-Out Case".

(ARD, Wh.)

  11. «"I often quote Graham Greene – 'the credit balance of the writer is his childhood' – and in that sense I was a millionaire."»
—David Cornwell, best known as John le Carré, before the BBC.

Graham Greene, too, was a spy, among other things.
(You have read _The Human Factor_ and _Our Man in Havana_, haven't you?)

And here is a fragment from John le Carré's _Smiley's People_, where Smiley finds Esterhase in his element as a shady art dealer.

SMILEY (examining the underside of a bronze statuette)
Toby, if this is a Degas, shouldn't it be numbered?

    ESTERHASE
Degas, George... Degas is a very gray area.

    ***

Oh, and do read _The Looking-Glass War_.

  16. I just stumbled upon "Wind River" with #ElisabethOlsen, #JeremyRenner & #GrahamGreene. How did I never heard of this one before? It's such a beautiful piece of storytelling and it has me crying quite a lot here (I blame the perimenopause for that though 😅).

    What a gem of a movie! -
