  1. Hey internet friends. My oldest is a Junior and got their class ring last night. His school had a whole event / ceremony for their class.

I didn't grow up with this at all. One person in my graduating class got a class ring and there was no ceremony, no fanfare, nothing.

Is this a thing others have seen? Ceremonies where class rings are presented?

If you went to High School in the US, did you have a ceremony at school presenting class rings?

  2. Never have and never will believe in "#popular #kids". All that is is a #slur against the ones who put effort into #socializing from the ones that don't. I grew up and kept to myself most of the time, but my #friend group had its tentacles in every #clique. If you shared my interests, mainly #videogames and #basketball, I was ready to mingle. I wasn't vindictive or jealous of my peers that had made more connections. That's just sad.

  4. Just received a text from a friend who teaches in the local school district. I'm so amused.

"The entire fourth grade just had their iPads confiscated for the rest of the year. They created a Google environment where they were all texting and sharing documents. Since the THIRD GRADE!!”

So now they don’t have iPads for a week.

Give that kid who set up this whole shadow infrastructure a job!

Considers many components of current crises and dilemmas in education through an analysis of one of the most celebrated secondary schools in the nation, Phillips Exeter Academy. Illustrates how styles and techniques at Exeter have grown to eclipse educational content, a stasis resulting from an "education school" mentality among the teaching establishment that adversely affects American instruction. Levy examines the "corporate culture" of Exeter and the way in which a surreal relationship of genuine and illegitimate standards stymies intellectual development among faculty, and hence, among students. Also deals with the way students' problems with drugs, depression, sexuality, and suicide are either mishandled or ignored.
