My girlfriend owns a Garmin Etrex 35 device.
I try to upgrade the maps on it via Garmin Express (TOPO, 10GB), which reports there is not enough space on the device, but there is 20GB free on the SD card. Is there a way to tell the Etrex about that card?Boost appreciated, as always.

Another thing that really surprises me is that the #GPS stuff is driverless on #PocketPC.
I don't really understand why. Cameras, LAN adapters, non BT Keyboards, etc. all require drivers, but not the GPS stuff.
GPS uses the #NMEA standard but i find it hard to believe that support for this was baked into #WinCE.
Whatever the reason its quite convenient!

Recently I have been toying around with a lot of the old #PocketPC #GPS stuff.
There are a variety of different ways to connect to a GPS. Some connect via the Compact Flash slot, some are SDIO, some Bluetooth and others through a physical serial cable.
You also have to decide on what GPS software that you want to use and then find compatible maps.
I'm still figuring things out and it is quite finicky but when it works it is surprisingly decent!

L'excellente application de GPS CoMaps (que j'utilise désormais en remplacement de MagicEarth et OsmAnd) va dé-corréler la mise à jour de l'application et des cartes. Vous pourrez désormais mettre à jour les cartes sans mettre à jour l'application.
Et ils ont l'intention de publier des mises à jour des cartes toutes les semaines !

Put my #ESPHome #GPS tracker to the test over a 30 km trip today! 🚴♂️
The logic works great, but I was mostly curious about the 1850 mAh battery life. The Lolin32 Lite + NEO-6M + small OLED combo managed to stay powered for a whole day (with smart reporting intervals when stationary).
Honestly impressed by how well this cheap NEO-6M performs.

Dziś na 30 km dystansie przetestowałem #GPS tracker oparty na #ESPHome o którym pisałem ostatnio.
Logika wysyłania koordynat sprawuje się dobrze, ale celem testu było głównie sprawdzenie czasu działania baterii 1850 mAh. Okazało się, że Lolin32 Lite z modułem NEO-6M i malutkim OLEDem wytrzymał dobę (oczywiście w spoczynku raportuje znacznie rzadziej)

Hello #bike and #DIY #electronics fans! 🚲
While others are grilling, I’m out testing my first custom GPS #tracker.
Built on #ESPHome, it syncs to #InfluxDB and #GeoPulse. To save battery and storage, it sends updates dynamically based on heading changes, distance, or time intervals.
Just finished a 1-hour logic test — works like a charm! Next up: battery endurance test.
