Google rozpoczyna wdrażanie nowej funkcji do swojego narzędzia AI.

Jak donoszą amerykańskie media technologiczne, Gemini w Canvas otrzymuje możliwość automatycznego generowania kompletnych prezentacji. Wystarczyć ma krótki opis lub wgrany dokument, by AI w kilka sekund przygotowało zestaw slajdów z tekstem i obrazami.

Według opisu serwisu Digital Trends, proces ma być prosty. Użytkownik będzie mógł wpisać temat lub załadować istniejący plik (np. raport czy konspekt). Gemini automatycznie przeanalizuje treść, wyciągnie kluczowe idee i rozłoży je na poszczególne slajdy. Gotowy projekt będzie można edytować w Canvas lub wyeksportować bezpośrednio do Prezentacji Google (Google Slides) w celu dalszego dopracowania.

To funkcja, która ma fundamentalnie zmienić sposób pracy, oszczędzając czas marnowany na formatowanie i szukanie punktu wyjścia. Zamiast mierzyć się z problemem „pustego slajdu”, użytkownik otrzyma gotową strukturę, którą będzie mógł dowolnie modyfikować, jak każdą prezentację Google Slides.

Warto jednak zaznaczyć, że jak to często bywa w przypadku Google, nowość wdrażana jest falami. W momencie publikacji tego artykułu, funkcja nie jest jeszcze dostępna dla użytkowników w Polsce, nawet tych posiadających płatną subskrypcję AI Pro. Wdrożenie ma charakter regionalny i na razie obejmuje najprawdopodobniej tylko Stany Zjednoczone i język angielski. Na swoją kolej będziemy musieli jeszcze poczekać.

Playing around with exporting from emacs org-mode straight to Google Slides.

I've found that the still-supported fork of md2googleslides works, but has the unfortunate feature that you have to go through the whole process of enabling a Cloud project with the Slides API switched on and OAuth credentials set up to use it. I'm wondering if there's a simpler way to upload Slides without having to go through that process (especially since I'm not 100% convinced my corp's gonna be happy turning that API on for all users). But it definitely works!

I just start breaking out in hives if I'm forced to stare at a web browser for a long time. It's just a horrible feeling. If I could get PNGs or a PDF out of it (or even .pptx?), that would be AMAZING XD

Major regression in #GoogleSlides: where before it was possible to insert a slide with a specific layout, the menu for doing that has now been replaced with a "Themes" button, which lets you… change themes on the fly I guess? Instead of, you know, using the theme you had already selected, and picking a layout in one step, instead of having to first insert the slide and then go Slide > Apply Layout.
When we complained about Google Slides never getting new features, this is NOT what we meant.
