Google hasn’t announced Gemini Omni. A reddit user just found it anyway.

Someone opened their Gemini app, got a pop-up for a model they’d never heard of, and started generating video. What came out has been making rounds on Reddit for the past few days, mostly because of one clip.

The Android Show 2026: Quick Share i AirDrop. Google idzie na całość w kwestii współpracy z Apple

Dla stałych Czytelników iMagazine fakt, że Quick Share potrafi „rozmawiać” z AirDropem, nie jest absolutną nowością. Ale teraz Google idzie ławą.

To, co dotychczas było technologiczną ciekawostką dostępną dla wąskiej grupy użytkowników najnowszych Pixeli, czy wybranych modeli Samsunga, staje się właśnie oficjalnym standardem, który Google zamierza wprowadzić pod strzechy – i to na masową skalę.

Przełom w wymianie plików. Samsung Galaxy S26 z nową funkcją Quick Share ułatwi wysyłanie zdjęć na iPhone’a

Wielkie otwarcie na partnerów

Najważniejszą informacją z dzisiejszego pokazu jest oficjalna lista partnerów. Google potwierdziło, że obsługa bezpośredniego przesyłania plików do AirDrop za pomocą Quick Share nie będzie już wyłączną domeną Pixeli. Jeszcze w tym roku do współpracy dołączą urządzenia od Samsunga (szerszy zakres niż tylko topowe Galaxy), OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi oraz HONOR.

Oznacza to, że funkcja ta stanie się standardem dla większości nowoczesnych smartfonów z Androidem na rynku.

Plan B: QR kod i chmura

Google zdaje sobie sprawę, że nie każdy posiada najnowszy model telefonu z odpowiednim chipem. Dlatego wprowadzono nowe rozwiązanie dostępne od dziś dla każdego smartfona z Androidem: generowanie kodu QR bezpośrednio w Quick Share.

Po jego zeskanowaniu przez użytkownika iPhone’a, plik zostanie błyskawicznie udostępniony za pośrednictwem chmury. To „bezpiecznik”, który ma zapewnić płynność wymiany danych niezależnie od wsparcia sprzętowego.

Co więcej, Quick Share zacznie pojawiać się bezpośrednio wewnątrz popularnych aplikacji. Pierwszym dużym partnerem jest WhatsApp, co ma znacząco uprościć przesyłanie multimediów w wysokiej jakości bez kompresji typowej dla komunikatorów.

Bezbolesna migracja: prawie jak kopia zapasowa

Google ogłosiło również, że we współpracy z Apple całkowicie przebudowano proces przenoszenia danych z iOS na Androida. Nowy mechanizm, który zadebiutuje w tym roku na urządzeniach Galaxy i Pixel, jest w pełni bezprzewodowy i wspiera transfer haseł, zdjęć, wiadomości, a nawet – co jest nowością – układu ikon na ekranie głównym oraz kart eSIM.

To wyraźny sygnał: Google nie chce już tylko konkurować z Apple – chce, aby granica między tymi światami była dla użytkownika niemal niezauważalna.

I’m spending a few days in cooler confines–Monday morning, I head to Vancouver for the second year of Web Summit’s conference there. And just like last year, I won’t have enough time to do much wandering around British Columbia’s largest city and taking in its stunningly beautiful mountains-and-sea scenery, because I have three panels to moderate over Tuesday and Wednesday (with the conference hosts paying for my hotel and reimbursing my airfare).

I spent Wednesday afternoon at the wireless trade group CTIA’s annual summit in Washington. Most of the talks on the program didn’t yield anything too newsworthy, but Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr’s appearance met that bar even though he didn’t talk about his clumsy attempts to leverage the FCC’s broadcast licensing authority to punish TV shows and TV hosts for being mean to Republicans.
