Ah yes, the classic Silicon Valley dilemma: aiming for perfection or drowning in "overengineering" 🤯. Apparently, striving for a flawless solution is a heresy akin to using Internet Explorer in 2023. 🙄 Let's just agree that "good enough" is the new "perfect" and call it a day. 🙌

@solarpapst einerseits sind das schöne Aussichten. Andererseits möchte ich nicht vergessen zu feiern, was heute schon mit Lithium-Ionen-Zellen möglich ist. Immerhin liegen zwischen 2050 und heute noch 2030, 2040 und einige Jahre dazwischen.

Mein Gedanke: Es wird immer besser gehen, aber heute ist schon vieles "gut genug". Also kein Grund abzuwarten!

Sollte eher die europäische Antwort sein, nachdem Aleph Alpha defakto nix mehr in Modellen macht. Nicht so gut wie Gemini 3 pro, aber #goodEnough für das meiste.

The #TrailerSocket at the rear of my vehicle is unreliable and needs attention (every time I use it).

This time I'm going to:
A. Tin (put solder on) the ends of the wires.
B. Put thread-locker on the wire-locking screw threads when they're tightened.
C. Pack the internals with waterproof grease before reassembling.

Anything else I could do?

(Thought of Vaseline - it works well in the ground - but the melting point is too low, < 60 degrees Celcius.)

We finally worked on the taxes today; not done yet, but done enough for them to be sent to the accountant. Then we went into the "pit" of the house to shuffle out the old document boxes so we can put new ones in. This is how my husband labels stuff.

I am merely sharing what I personally use to give you a nudge to plan to do something similar, so we can all reduce dependencies on services we cannot really influence or control. 3/6

#codeberg is #GoodEnough to replace #Github and #Gitlab for 95% of your FOSS projects, IMHO. Or you can take it to the next level and run your own #Forgejo instance as a (rootless) container, completely self-contained. And (hopefully) soon we will see more #federation features in #Forgejo, leading to a decentralised network of forges that can talk to each other to form a sustainable and resilient global network. (FTR: I've been running my Forgejo instance since 1.5 years now, no problems) 1/6

Shoot for Good Enough doesn't fit as well on motivational influencers' t-shirts though. I once read "Perfectionism is the ultimate form of self-abuse", which was probably in Chicken Soup for the Soul or some such dreck, but it does strike a certain chord of truth too.
