How is it possible for the tea tree to produce so many subtle flavors and aromas. The oolong we are having today has the aroma of a wild honey, sweet but also floral, but the taste has a hint of hot rocks a mineral taste, and of course the bitter and lightly woody taste of the tea itself.

There is this special moment just before actually drinking tea, where you lift the cup to your nose and take in the scent that rises up softly. In this very moment, many things meet: memories, expectations, illusions, longing, pleasure, stillness, gratitude...
Time seems to slow, and the world narrows to the simple grace of aroma and breath.
This is where tea can turn into a ceremony, opening doors to layers of perception that we might blindly pass by in our daily lives. -
A few days ago I had the great honour to serve tea at a teakwondo black belt celebration at Phönix Taekwon-Do School.
About 40 students and masters of all ages had gathered to celebrate. Tea was served in silence, and even after the gong had marked the end if it, nobody spoke - there was a sacred reverence in the room.
This was really gong fu cha in action 🍵🙏💚

It seems like between everything happening and being mentally in places I make a scoop per 6 months at most. But well, here they are; sisters from the same piece of wood, one put-together but sassy, the other edgy on the outside but the gentlest soul when you get to know her closer. Guess which is which.
(They don't have homes, but I'll appreciate just kind words, tbh).

I forgot to count exactly today, but this is the 10th or 11th brew (including forgetting the leaves for several minutes in previous brews) of a wild Vietnamese black tea. Still full of flavour and depth, aromas changed from light citrus notes with clear astringency in earlier brews to more sweetness 🍵💚

It's #TombTuesday but also #TeaTuesday, so I'm taking my time with this 2018 Sun Fu heicha from White2Tea. Its golden flowers—you can just see them in the closeup on the first pic—flood the room with tiny lights, adding a mysterious sweetness to the tea.
The Hagi teaware is by one of my favourite Japanese potters, Mukuhara Kashun.
And although it's December, I'm listening to Dennis Johnson's masterpiece for piano, November.
