I've been drinking up the smattering of samples that have been hiding at the bottom of my puer box. Remaining are a handful of minis from white2tea. This is their prosbloom from 2020. I'm not a fan of ripe puer. I dunno how far I'm going to get into this one.

Last day of vacation in Florida. The weather is alternating sun and thunder storm. I had this first flush golden green before the power went out this morning. Now we are waiting for the weather to clear up so that we can get in the pool.

My partner took me out camping for the weekend. The cape is such a strange place. You can't throw a rock without smashing some potter's lively-hood, and I simultaneously deeply love a place that is so full of artisans, and also a bit hopeless, as they are all old and grey, and who will be able to afford to carry their torch when they pass?

In any case, three days with no news, podcasts, or internet, and I am having a hard time getting caught back up with the gish gallop of horrors that is day-to-day life now.

But below is a photo of our tent, which hysterically just barely fit my actual, full bed setup, and ably weathered a hell of a storm, and our tea set-up for the weekend.

Babby's first gaiwan 🍵

I almost always drink black tea brewed in a teapot, but recently I decided to give gongfu-style brewing a try. This Peach Oolong Super Grade tea is both beautiful and delicious! Pouring from the gaiwan is something I'll need to get used to over time but it was a lot of fun to try something new to me.

I used to just be a tea-drinker, earl grey, daily, because if it was good enough for my favorite captain, it was good enough for me. Then I got into yerba-maté because a company I worked for partnered with *that* company, and I always end up trying to get to the DIY or trad version of any vice I take on. And then I tried to make coffee for my Starbucks loving ex, but I wasn't able to woo her away from the union-busters, and got myself into coffee instead. Now I'm dabbling with #puer, #oolong, #sencha, and other blitz-brew or #GongFu style teas. I feel like I've got all of my major cultural caffeine bases more or less covered, and all of them work well for me for different vibes.

Jìn (劲): on the left side, jīn, the archaic form of “channel”, phoneme conveying a sense of flux; on the right, strength: power lì 力 that stretches jīng 经, that follows a line of transmission.

Jìn is a fundamental concept in Taijiquan - it is what makes the power one develops in Taijiquan different from the strength one can get by lifting weights, for example.

Got this #porcelain #gongfu #tea #set at local #fleamarket. It's so thin, you can see the outside painting from inside if you hold it against a light source. Will post more photos from test session tomorrow. Think it's more suitable for #sheng and other "greener" teas, maybe red?
