  1. Flats & gradients on @MalkavianPranks and @dorriker

Given my experience with the komodo dragon, a big Gomi toy would be *squishy* even at room temperature.

  2. Logged into Google using Chrome at work and found it's become a Kakfa-esque experience where I had to log in five times before I realized what was going on with "profiles" I've never asked for. Reminds me of the time I did a shoot-out of ten visual recognition APIs and I got demos of the others done in 20 minutes each but Google Cloud Compute took two hours because it trashed my Python #google #bigtech #trash #gomi #chrome #enshittification #privacytheatre

  4. In suburbs across Japan, homes filled to the rafters with hoarded junk are common enough to have an ironic idiom: #gomi-#yashiki (trash-mansions).

And in areas where space is limited, cluttered residences and shops will often erupt, disgorging things onto the street in a semi-controlled jumble so ubiquitous that urban planners have a name for it:
    #afuré-#dashi (spilling-outs).

This is an ecstatic, emergent complexity, born less from planning than from organic growth, from the inevitable chaos of lives being lived.

  5. Continuing #Night #Photography from my #DayAndNight series from #Japan in 2019. This #Photo is the back of a shop, near the end of one of the main streets in #UnazukiOnsen. I love the distressed corrugated iron, and the gentle dilapidation in much of the #Japanese countryside. This is what is lost when places suffer predatory #Gentrification. Ironically, people will pay a fortune to fake this weathered age, constructing new buildings from demolition remains - suburban #Gomi castles.
