Yeah, the idea of the Golem as a malevolent figure who randomly and mindlessly attacks the innocent villagers is primarily drawn from Christians seeing their role in the Golem stories, where a Golem serves and protects Jews from blood libels and pogroms by their neighbours, as being the "good guys" who are innocent victims of the Golem when they are just trying to protect their town from the bloodthirsty Jews.
It all trickled down from there. In Jewish tradition, a Golem is primarily peaceful and a part of the community, aiding those who are infirm, reluctantly and to varying degrees of success, pulled into the role of protector.

Can't believe it, just beat Diablo (on Normal) in Diablo II (Resurrected) using just a level 28 necromancer, one merc, and one blood golem. Sure, I have some great gear and I had to portal back to town a few times to get supplies, but that's a personal best. Diablo will straight up kill you instantly with all kinds of character classes if you're not careful. And we're not even talking Baal, just Diablo. Tough. Just goes to show that necros are an amazing class, and that blood golem is the coolest.

Can't believe it, just beat Diablo (on Normal) in Diablo II (Resurrected) using just a level 28 necromancer, one merc, and one blood golem. Sure, I have some great gear and I had to portal back to town a few times to get supplies, but that's a personal best. Diablo will straight up kill you instantly with all kinds of character classes if you're not careful. And we're not even talking Baal, just Diablo. Tough. Just goes to show that necros are an amazing class, and that blood golem is the coolest.
