Etwa sechs Stunden lang war der Blick aus dem Busfenster so zauberhaft eintönig und trostlos. Mal mehr, selten weniger neblig. Hin und wieder ein paar Bäume, Häuser, Hügel oder Gewässer. Gegen Abend immer dunkler werdend.

From the #travel archive, on this day in 2015 we were in #Iceland for the first time and undertaking the obligatory Golden Circle Tour.
On a grey and often damp day we visited the rift between tectonic plates at Þingvellir, Gullfoss waterfall, and Strokkur geyser and hot springs at Geysir.

Der Nationalpark Thingvelllir in Island liegt an einer sogenannten Grabenbruchzone. Hier driften die Eurasischen und Nordamerikanischen Kontinentalplatten auseinander. Dadurch entstehen Spalten und Schluchten, wie z.B. die Almannagjá-Schlucht. Du hast die Möglichkeit, durch diese Schlucht zu spazieren.

It’s #WaterfallWednesday again! This one is in #Iceland, which has loads and loads of waterfalls. I can’t remember which one it is but it might be #Gullfoss in the #GoldenCircle. This was from our first trip to Iceland in 2017.
