This live EP (at least, they're calling it an EP) is from the "Everything is Going to be OK" tour, and while I'm not so sure about that, I *am* sure that this is an excellent live recording. If you like what GoGo Penguin does, you'll enjoy it.

GoGo Penguin - Necessary Fictions

Nice to have them back again, and perhaps moving beyond the loss/shakeup of the last album.

Do the Necessary Fictions of the title include "Everything's Going to Be OK" of the last? They certainly seem to be in a more jubilant mood...and one song even has vocals (!).

Regardless, while the main trio continues mining the vein they've focused on throughout, they're also changing things up in some interesting ways...

GoGo Penguin - v2.0

I'm not sure why it took me so long to listen to GoGo Penguin...they've been around a long time, are very acclaimed, and yet I didn't snag any until this year's "Everything is Going to be OK" (featured back in April).

But, I've made up for it, and have filled in the back catalog. This is their 2nd album with the original lineup, and shows the same focus with this trio - piano-led jazz with a great rhythm section.
