Kävimme eilen elokuvissa. #NouvelleVague oli #elokuva elokuvan tekemisestä. Suoraan sanottuna hieman pitkästyttävä ja aloitteleva ohjaaja Godard siteerasi koko ajan kaiken maailman älykköjä. Miehiä. Parasta ehkä oli se, että #Godard taisteli tehokkuusajattelua vastaan ja luovuuden puolesta. Koko filmi tehtiin kuitenkin vain kolmessa viikossa.

Nouvelle Vague (Richard Linklater, 2025) A love letter to cinema in the shape of a very elegant The Making of À bout de souffle. A lovely recreation of Paris at the end of the 1950s and a extremely creative milieu, a sort of Les Avengers of the Nouvelle Vague. #Godard is portaited as slightly excentric but witty with an elusive determination that at times puzzles his lovable crew. Glad I watched this Netflix production at the cinema, sans Gauloise alas #cinemastodon #film

Coup de cœur cinématographique : Le Mépris de Jean-Luc #Godard (film de 1963). Chez StudioCanal. Mon préféré pour l'instant chez Godard. Pierrot le fou n'est pas très loin. J'aime aussi mais dans une moindre mesure Alphaville, une étrange aventure de Lemmy Caution.

I've watched one half of A Bout de Souffle and while it starts of quite entertaining, it really starts to drag with the characters just saying stuff in pointless scenes.
I'm not even sure what the plot is. There's some crimes something or other, some money or something.
A policeman was killed and he wants to sleep with the main woman character ...
I would be alright if there wasn't all the pointless filler in between.

What interests me about #cinema is really what THESE people, at THIS point in their history, chose to risk, or cajoled, hard investor dollars to earnestly tell me THIS story, even when they only had THIS budget to do it, but damn it, did it anyway. For me, this is the inescapable TRUTH #Godard talks about as "Cinema is Truth, 24 frames per second."

The only known script for Jean-Luc Godard’s seminal New Wave film Breathless (À Bout de Souffle) will be auctioned later this year.
About 70 pages of director’s handwritten notes for the New Wave classic were found after more than 60 years.
