The life of a bicyclist is worth $1150.... apparently.
"Christopher Shawn Basque of Chilliwack, B.C., pleaded guilty in North Vancouver Provincial Court to one count of driving without due care and attention on Friday.
The court ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine and a $150 victim surcharge.”

Phew 🥲🚲— I've been part of a few Boards since my time as councillor. They've all been really great.
Today I stepped down from the Board of GoByBikeBC. They help support and put on bike events in the Spring, Summer and Fall in communities large and small all over British Columbia!
I have been on the board since 2019 and was Treasurer from 2020 (I think? lol) to 2024.
They just recently achieved Charity status and continue to grow! It's always sad to leave.

Pics from my ramble today. I found a remarkable nature park close to home but feeling much further away. This forest is only 24 years old! it was planted in 2000 in a bold bit of ecological restoration on 60 acres of degraded land next to the old dump. You can get here by bike or foot but but not car so it was very quiet. In an hour I saw only 5 humans and 4 dogs.
I wish they had taken better care against invasive plants though, there was a lot of English ivy and Himalayan blackberry.

Celebrating the end of Bike to School Week with a huge party. The kids loved the bike bling decorating station and obstacle course. The free bananas, oranges, and freezies were also very popular.

There's nothing like seeing the joy on kids faces when they ride their bikes around. We just need more AAA bike routes so they can ride more often.

It brings great joy to my heart to see every bike rack was full and then some. Hundreds of kids biking and scootering to school today at our local Vancouver elementary. 🚴🛴
After school there will be a celebration party with bike decorating, an obstacle course, tune-ups, free snacks, and a DJ.

The first free electric pedicab shuttle in the US opened in #Portland on 11/28/22.
Pre-COVID Oregon Health & Science Institute #OHSU operated a gas shuttle between parking, transit stops and the aerial tram on the south waterfront.
The e-pedicab seats 2 adults plus driver and is free to anyone with an OHSU badge. Looking for drivers.
According to #GoByBike operator, pedicabs have fewer seats than a shuttlebus, but make trips faster.
