A very special #Gobot themed #Deskbots today. These are all toys I owned as a boy, lost to time, so I'm *thrilled* to own them again.
From left to right:
Spay-c (no relation to Kevin)
Rest-Q ("Rescue", geddit?)
Spoons (???)
Water Walk (The perfect Easter purchase 😋)Spay-c is what used to be known as a "Space Shuttle", a vehicle used to hop into orbit and back. The US had five of them (name them all without googling); two were named after Star Trek series, one after a Stargate series.

Now, a fascinating piece of trivia here is looking at the early development of what became Transformers. This concept art has been unearthed for a character called "Muffy" (short for Muffler). That robot mode looks VERY close to what was released as Bug Bite, doesn't it? Meaning it's possible the design changed hands early on, and possibly Marvel *rejected* this mold in favour of the micro-change toy that would become Bumblebee.

Since these Halcyon days Volkswagen became very particular about licensing out their vehicle designs to companies who made, in their words, "War Toys". Can't think why a German company would be so squeamish...

One of the "super" Gobots from the OG toyline, larger figures with more detail than the regular line, he's one of my all-time favourites. Not only for his resemblance to iconic Transformer, Bumblebee, but for his unashamedly retro look: the pincer hands, the blank windscreen face...it's so gloriously 1970s design ethos it makes me weep joyous human tears.

Hardly a surprise that the #GuardiansoftheGalaxyHolidaySpecial was going to be good, but I REALLY loved this. Mantis has almost a Judy Tenuta-like vibe, and it rocks. 😆
Must have been nice to be able to make a total fun, no-compromises, unapologetic "holiday special" and just go all-in on the camp and holiday schmaltz. It just meshes so well together with Guardians, surprisingly.
...though I thought it was interesting that Mantis knew what a #GoBot was... 😉
