When did #Gobi turn into a #desert? There are clear deep river marks in Gobi, just like in #Atacama. Recent archaeology also shows that there were human activities at the middle of the Gobi Desert, just like in Atacama Desert.
No humans will willfully move to and reside in the middle of a desert. The 3000 year old Gobi mummies clearly indicate that Gobi was not a complete desert even about 3000 years ago. Was the desertification of Gobi natural or a human mistake? #climate #climatechange

Recent archaeology studies confirm that #Gobi Mongolia started to become a desert about 4000 years ago. Even today, there is snow water from Tian Shan flowing through Gobi which now has little vegetation. Gobi Desert was filled with streams, wetlands and woodlands. Ancient human artifacts, such as flakes, adzes and axes, grinding stones, a pickaxe, and bronze slag. Did Gobi turn into a desert naturally or because of excessive human #deforestation?
