#GNOME #Bildbetrachter #Loupe erhält Editierfunktionen
Mit #GNOME45 fand ein Wechsel bei den GNOME Core Apps statt. Der bisherige Bildbetrachter Eye of GNOME machte Platz für Loupe, das im Menü die generische Bezeichnung Image Viewer trägt. Der Neuankömmling ist in Rust geschrieben und nutzt die GNOME-Bibliothek Glycin zum Laden von Bildern. Loupe verwendet die GPU zum Rendern und beginnt gerade mit der Unterstützung von HDR-Bildern.

GNOME 45 came out almost a year ago and I’m still in love with the Super+S keyboard shortcut. for years I was looking for a keyboard shortcut to open this menu and then they added it 😍
[“Super” is Linux-speak for the key that on most keyboards looks like “Windows”]

I don't know how this has happened but Gnome on latest Ubuntu has somehow corrupted its fonts on first startup?? This is what my settings window looks like - only a few fonts rendered. If I toggle my Gnome theme from dark to light, all my fonts come back except for in Gnome settings.

Does anyone know of a good theme for #GNOME45 that has a light top bar? I have been using Human forever but it's a little glitchy with the new workspace indicator thingy in the top left. There are lots of "light" themes but they all have a dark top bar!

Alors cela fait maintenant un peu plus d'une semaine que je travaille sur #Linux #ubuntu23_10 avec #Gnome45 comme gestionnaire de bureau (configuré aux petits oignons pour mes besoins à moi).
Eh bien c'est beau ! Bordel que c'est beau ! Je crois que je suis encore en période de lune de Miel de vieux geek :) Et d'un point de vue productivité (pour le moment en tout cas), aucun "show stopper"... !

Ah ha, yes, no, it's not morse code. So there's these things called workspaces that mean you can put windows beyond the edge of your screen. That daaah-dit is showing you you're on the first workspace of two. I know I know you didn't ask for 2, but there you go. Why do you want some off screen? No, I've never got it either.

@[email protected] ...eeee... fatto!!! #GNOME45 gira da dio come sempre anche se nel passaggio ho perso qualche estensione (#Pano dove sei?). Per fortuna quasi tutto quello che uso di solito c'è e funziona. Un minuto di silenzio per #popshell. Supererò questo lutto grazie a #forge ma il primo amore è sempre duro da dimenticare!

This update is a short-term release supported by 9 months of ongoing support, bug fixes, and critical app updates. While it may not sound long (because it isn’t, all told) remember that Ubuntu 24.04 is out in April 2024 as a long-term support release with 5 years of support. Summarising Ubuntu 23.10 in just one word is tricky, but ‘refinement’ feels an apt choice.
