What would be the correct way to handle discretionary ligatures inside Glyphs (especially for arrow symbols)?

I really want to do more type design, but there's one feature lacking in Glyphs preventing me from actually doing it.
Currently, Glyphs doesn't have a proper rounded-corner option like in most vector editing software. I've managed to find a workaround for now, but it's kinda wonky.
It also stops me from experimenting with different weights, or even a variable typeface.So, I'm still hoping they're adding it soon!

Suggestion: don't use ξ and ζ as two different variables in the same equation, especially when your font doesn't do a great job distinguishing these glyphs.
Or maybe my getting thoroughly confused by this and the surrounding equations today is just another sign I need glasses... 😂 😫
