His research team at MPL uses super-resolution microscopy to study the glycocalyx, a specific sugar structure on cell surfaces, and to understand its role in physiology.

The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung has awarded its annual publication prizes – among the laureates is Prof. Leonhard Möckl, research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light.
