Anyone with some deep magic related to #glusterfs #gluster ???
I have 1500 odd files that won't heal on one of my 2 bricks in the cluster.

#iXsystems: No one is being 'marooned' by #Debian focus
From now on iXsystems will develop #TrueNASSCALE faster than #TrueNASCORE (#FreeBSD), with #TrueNAS CORE becoming more of a maintenance product. SCALE is based on Debian #Linux, termed a #scaleout product, and supports #Docker Containers, #Kubernetes, #KVM, #Gluster, and a wider range of hardware than CORE.

is getting a crash course on #Gluster.
I'm trying to heal a volume but two of the nodes have bricks with issues. `gluster volume heal gluster info` doesn't list the problematic files but does list the gfid of the problems. It looks like .glusterfs contains symlinks that reference the files (or what is supposed to be files) and you can search the folders based upon the gfid values. 🤔

That feeling when you know you're being bald faced lied to about #NetApp and #OpenStack and #gluster but have no actual experience to call the parties out... Of course, I question the #Panasas stuff as well, but have a decade of experience there.

@Cryptomon
I am monitoring #gluster health information periodically with #ansible to prevent anything stupid like "shutting down the good node" from happening. -
The s390x open source team at IBM works to get the latest versions of open source software running for #Linux on #IBMZ and in June 2023 currency was maintained for 2 dozen projects, including #ApacheTomcat, #Gluster & #InfluxDB ! ✨

Resolution of at a least some of this issue... Having nfs-kernel-server export glusterfs seems to be part of the issue. Switching to nfs-ganesha fixed the errors on my Linux client and seems to have made some of the errors go away on MacOS, esp the worst ones, like copying a file but it's 0 bytes afterwards.

#Gluster folks: can one indeed force start and mount a single replica node?

Even #Rancher is "heavy" compared to #DockerSwarm! I tried running #K3s on my NUC cluster and it basically took up the (pathetic) resources with nothing running. No so with Swarm, which easily let me run #Gluster and #WordPress / #MariaDB on these little guys!
-
There are surprisingly few solid references or tutorials to #DockerSwarm on the internets. I know it's "uncool" but it's also incredibly useful! I've got a Swarm + #Gluster clustering solution built and it works very well with quick automatic failover. Guess I'll document it...

@mhamzahkhan I've been working with #ovirt for over 3 years. For working #gluster minimum need 10G dedicated network. If you want use Hosted Engine - you mast deploy it to dedcated #ovirt cluster. 1G iSCSI - for testing only. For hyperconverged infrastructure you must use SSD disks and over 10Gbit networks. Or you having all sorts of problems.
