  1. Happy birthday to #GloriaSteinem, journalist, activist, and leading feminist voice.

In this 1974 interview for BTPM PBS's "Woman," Steinem reflects on her life, work, and the feminist movement: americanarchive.org/catalog/cp

  2. #Justice #Law #GloriaSteinem

    A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
Law and justice are not always the same. When they aren't, destroying the law may be the first step toward changing it. -Gloria Steinem, activist, author, and editor (b. 25 Mar 1934)

There’s so much interesting to like in this post, but of particular interest to me is Gloria Steinem’s use of Wilson’s Memindex as her diary/to do list in 1960! Special thanks to my new friend Julian O’Shea who tipped me off to this little bit of history.
  4. @krijnsoeteman Inderdaad interessant! Doet me denken aan wat #GloriaSteinem ooit zei over de huid (en over geslachtsorganen 😄)

  5. The Dangers of Project 2025: A Call to Protect Civil Liberties

Yes it's July and we have a special announcement about our Winter Solstice event in December. Then we take a long look at Project 2025 a political agenda chock full of bigotry and Christian Nationalism t

The outer edges of human possibility… Steinem is one of the American greats.

  8. There are a good number of great quotes in _Looking Forward_.:

    > There are really not many jobs that actually require a penis or a vagina, and all other occupations should be open to everyone.

  9. @historleans This made me think of the excellent 1978 article by #gloriasteinem 'If men could menstruate':

"So what would happen if suddenly, magically, men could menstruate and women could not? (…) Congress would fund a National Institute of Dysmenorrhea. Doctors would research little about heart attacks, from which men were hormonally protected, but everything about cramps. Sanitary supplies would be federally funded and free."

  10. CW: Eye Contact (Doll)

It's a Feminist Funko Friday finish!

Meet undercover Playboy Bunny Gloria Steinem, the latest addition to my collection of customized #FunkoPOP figurines. Funko does not make enough female POPs, so I create my own featuring women from history, fandom, current events, etc

More info on how I made her in the replies

  11. Two more of #GloriaSteinem’s epic quotes. Odilon Redon #painting, Mystical Conversation

—Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke. That’s their natural and first weapon. She will need her sisterhood.

—We are the women our parents warned us against, and we are proud.

  12. Two of #GloriaSteinem’s most profound recorded #thoughts.

—I never wanted to be a politician or elected person myself, so I loved to work for other women who did—and hope that more girls will do that. The problem is the feeling that we’re divided from politics, that our vote doesn’t count or what we do doesn’t count. In fact, everything we do counts. 🤘🏻

—Now we know that, say, women can do what men can do—most folks would agree with that. But we don’t know that men could do what women can do.

  13. Dorothy Pitman-Hughes ⎯Ms. Magazine cofounder, childcare activist, & Black rights leader⎯ died last week. #RIP Ms. Dorothy ✊ 🖤 ♀

    Side-by-side photos from 1971 & 2014 of #DorothyPitmanHughes & #GloriaSteinem ⎯each with raised fist salute⎯ are a reminder of our long & ongoing struggle for #Equality.
