Wearing my #PoliticalEconomy hat - this is an excellent critique of the now-mainstream concept of Global Value Chain. Prof Benjamin Selwyn argues that GVCs should instead be called Global Poverty Chains, and says "GVCs represent an organizational strategy for transnational firms, designed to raise exploitation by depressing wages below the value of labor power."
