M'n #meteorencamera heeft dit jaar weer een goede oogst aan Perseïden: 470 stuks. Door alle beelden te projecteren op de hemel op één tijdstip zie je mooi dat ze inderdaad uit een punt lijken te komen (in het sterrenbeeld Perseus). #globalmeteornetwork

Goede Geminiden-oogst dit jaar! Op mijn #meteorencamera stonden ruim 150 Geminiden. Met de #globalmeteornetwork software heb ze allemaal in één plaatje gekregen.

Afgelopen nacht, mooi helder, stonden er 102 meteoren op m'n #meteorencamera! Vooral sporadische meteoren (geen zwerm / zwerm onbekend), misschien nog 16 van de kleine zwerm Comae Berenicids, met radiant in het sterrenbeeld Hoofdhaar - Coma Berenices. #globalmeteornetwork

Dit weekend (vooral zaterdag op zondag) zijn de #geminiden weer te zien. Als het helder is, zijn er gegarandeerd vallende sterren te zien. M'n meteorencamera draait zoals altijd mee. In 2022 was het onbewolkt tijdens de Geminiden, en kon ik in een paar nachten deze collage van meteoren maken. #globalmeteornetwork

M'n meteorencamera heeft eergisteren 170 meteoren in één nacht vastgelegd. 146 #perseiden, een paar van andere zwermen en de rest sporadische #meteoren. Wasn't supposed to be clear last night but the skies must have opened up for a little while at least. #GlobalMeteorNetwork camera picked up 26 (plus 11 sporadics).

I'm planning an allsky cam project for the global meteor network - but as of now I don't have a definite place to host the box itself. I've contacted my school and as of now it's a *maybe* depending on whether the business manager or whatever decides to let me put it on the roof.

Would anyone in the Hobart or general Tas area be willing to host it? I'm very close to the hobart CBD and on a hill so it isn't quite the optimal conditions for astronomical thingies.

I have 2 #meteor cameras installed in my back yard that are part of the #GlobalMeteorNetwork. Not a dark sky sight (!) but the cameras work well detecting and filtering meteors anyway.

One points ~South and the other ~East. Here are final stacks and list of detected meteors for the night of August 12 (automatically generated by the camera software). Not hard to decipher which ones are #Perseids!

A clear night on 6th/7th August meant we had a very busy night on all 4 of our #GMN #RaspberryPi #MeteorCameras in Oxfordshire, UK. These are the track-stacks from each camera. Dotted or squiggly lines are aircraft or moths in the same frame as a meteor. Plenty of #Perseids! #PerseidsMeteorShower #GlobalMeteorNetwork

#Asteroid #Sar2667 impacted at 02:59 UT this morning, over the English Channel. It was solid cloud here in Oxfordshire but all 4 of our #RaspberryPi #MeteorCameras caught the flash through cloud. Meteor shower radiants by date, based on almost five years of open data from the #globalmeteornetwork. Each of these 750,000 dots corresponds to a meteor, observed by at least two #raspberrypi meteor cameras to triangulate the radiant.

The mag -5.6 #Fireball that many people saw at 6:54 this morning was picked up on several #GlobalMeteorNetwork #RasberryPiMeteorCameras that are part of the #UKMeteorNetwork. Its ground track was near the Welsh border. Read the full report here: https://tinyurl.com/4pf6r8hp

The news I thought was neat:

The #UIS Observatory participates in the #GlobalMeteorNetwork (https://globalmeteornetwork.org/), running two nodes in "a #decentralized #science-grade instrument which observes the night sky every night of the year from as many locations around the world as possible."

During last week's #Geminid showers, 85 meteors were observed on campus, and 182 were seen at the off-campus #astronomy #research #observatory.

The #GlobalMeteorNetwork camera at the University of Illinois Springfield research observatory caught 36 #Leonid meteors last night among the 135 total detected. #Data available at the link!
