The Betrayal of Ireland
They called it vibeshift. They called it modernisation.
What they didn't call it was betrayal.
Here's how the globalists hijacked the republican dream 👇

Eye-catching report from @humanrightswatch shines new light on an interesting corner of current #geopolitics: #UAE-employed mercenaries from #Colombia fighting alongside #Sudan's rogue #RSF forces (and implicated in likely #warcrimes and #genocide):

In one of the most blatant pieces of malevolent corporate greed I've seen, I'm greeted by headlines today that around 2500 seafarers are still stranded in the Persian Gulf, simply because the shipping companies they work for don't want to spend any extra to fly them back to their homes.

We need to adopt this attitude in #Canada. And then we need to extend the principle to #food production, #farming, #agriculture etc. The experiment of #Globalism has failed. Time to become self-reliant, again.

Sweden's government paid five million kronor to Somalia to increase deportations to the country, according to an investigation by newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The money is said to have financed three positions at the Somali government office and according to DN's sources, the jobs have gone to relatives of people in the prime minister's inner circle.

When Argentina needed help to deal with its financial problems, the IMF, World Bank, and West said no and demanded austerity and selling off state assets to (quelle surprise) their corporations. Now, Milei's own plans have been proven hollow and destructive, dingbats like Trump are dumping $20B to save their prize winning donkey in Buenos Aires. That nations are being run like businesses has the results we are seeing around us. This isn’t just a metaphor, it’s a set of political and economic choices that have shaped much of the world over the last few decades. This approach usually borrows from corporate management styles, profit-driven thinking, and market-based solutions, often prioritising short-term financial “efficiency” over broader social, cultural, and environmental goals.
Running a country like a business changes the logic of governance. It can bring some efficiency and fiscal discipline, but it often treats citizens as consumers, public goods as market commodities, and the national budget as a balance sheet — which tends to undermine the social, environmental, and democratic goals that don’t show immediate “profit.”
The results we are now seeing include:
- Erosion of public trust – Citizens feel like customers, but “service” is inconsistent and democratic participation shrinks. The Social Contract upon which Western Democracies is based has now been eroded to such a degree in many states as to be worthless.
- Rising inequality – Profits from privatisation flow to investors, not evenly to the public.
- Short-termism – Like quarterly earnings reports, political cycles favour quick wins over long-term investment (e.g., climate adaptation).
- Weakened public services – Health, education, and transport lose capacity when profit overrides public benefit.
- Environmental costs – Business-style governance often prioritises GDP growth over sustainability, leading to over-extraction and climate damage.
Present day models for governance are destroying the Social Contract and undermining the possibilities to build sustainable and equitable societies.

Here's an interesting take on #globalism and some perceived "need" for #standards: the Swiss #flag 🇨🇭 is square, and the Nepali flag 🇳🇵is stacked triangles but in many cases you'd never know it since they're forced to fit the same rectangle as the Union Jack 🇬🇧 and #US 🇺🇲 #flags

Thomas James, AME minister, escaped slavery. He says as a Black person, when he goes among religious who are “enlightened”, there’s still a cold current of neglect. He cannot call himself a part of this.
Any communities today that feel this is necessary, lest inclusion, or speaking up against neglect, offend the majority?
How can you create atmospheres surcharged with sympathy for others?

@RealJournalism @samiamsam This is an important benefit of globalism: we can ostracize countries who are misbehaving and it hurts them in their wallets.

I have this thought for some time and now I need some questions answered.
I noticed that quite often good ideas like #foss #privacy #sustainability and others develop features of a religion, in particular in the form of blaming and pointing fingers inside the community on everyone who is "not ... enough".
I'm looking for a proper term to popularize and normalize the idea that doing little is better than doing nothing.
