Highlands Detour
When I opened the window blinds after waking up, I had a first glimpse of the rainy Highlands. So yes indeed, I travelled quite a bit further north than end destination Glasgow, and I would be spending my Saturday in Fort William and Glenfinnan.

281 years ago today. Prince Charles Edward Stuart, "Bonnie Prince Charlie", raised his standard at Glenfinnan on 19 August 1745, starting the ill-fated 1745 Jacobite uprising. At Glenfinnan, most visitors come to see the viaduct made famous by Harry Potter, but only a few take in the view up Loch Shiel from the Glenfinnan Monument. On the day we visited, the mist hung low over the water and hills, creating a scene that was atmospheric in every sense of the word
