Favourite Friends, Glen Affric
There's something about this little clump of Scots Pines that really appeals to me. Emerging from the carpark to look over the Caledonian Forest, they're the first few trees one sees. Characterful. I've admired these in particular every time I've visited for over 15 years.

From earlier in the week:
Sgùrr na Lapaich was included on Munro's original list, but was subsequently demoted and is now just a top of Màm Sodhail. But it's a great hill in its own right, and at 3½km along the ridge from Màm Sodhail there's a good argument for reinstating it.
We took our time as it was a hot day, and spent a while snoozing on the summit.

Caledonian Forest: Rainbow
Visiting the Nice Place™ later on a summer day, the sun was round to the west, so with a bit of hazy precipitation, a brilliant rainbow formed right over the birch and Scots Pine trees in the Caledonian Forest.
