In Weimers Einflussbereich werden tatsächlich viele Förderungen – Preise, Stipendien und weiteres – mithilfe unabhängiger Auswahlgremien vergeben. Diese Vorgehensweise ist wichtig, weil sich der Staat auch dann, wenn er selbst fördert, inhaltlich nicht einmischen darf. Überlegungen zu möglichen Neubesetzungen scheinen aber angestellt zu werden.

Die US-Regierung scheint offenbar die deutschen Playbook der 1930er-Jahre abzuarbeiten. Zumindest die #Gleichschaltung der Presse ähnelt es den Beschreibungen aus dem Geschichtsunterricht.
Noch ist nicht alles verloren, wie Minnesota zeigte. Hoffen wir mal, dass es den US-Bürgern nicht so ergeht wie der iranischen Bevölkerung.

Abgesehen davon, dass das per se einen Ausschluss von Buchhandlungen keineswegs rechtfertigen würde, zeugt dieses vermeintliche Argument von präpubertärer Denkweise ("die hat aber auch ..."), insbesondere nicht, wenn per Mail versucht wurde über die wahren Gründe hinweg zu täuschen.
Es sind auch nicht die Prüfmechanismen, die hier fehlerhaft eingesetzt worden sind, sondern eine eigenmächtige Entscheidung des BKM über die Jury hinweg und die betroffenen Buchhandlungen sollen bereits früher Preisträger gewesen sein – sind also bereits mehrfach geprüft gewesen. Die Prüfung sollte sicherzustellen, dass die ausgezeichneten Buchhandlungen den Kriterien des Preises entsprachen.
Das Verhalten des BKM ist nach den Machenschaften der Klöcknerin in unserem Bundestag nur wieder ein weiteres Beispiel für das Mindset dieser Lobbykratie. Und nach meiner Meinung liegt es auf der "Richterskala" der Demokratie-Beben hierzulande mit der Augstein-Affäre gleich.

@parents4future @renemartens @altpapier Ich verbuche das unter #Gleichschaltung. Seit Jahren predigen wir, dass der Job von Journalisten nicht ist, Behauptungen ungeprüft nachzuplappern, sondern die Geschehnisse zu prüfen und einzuordnen.
Aber ich glaube, dann wären sie ja Wissenschaftler, keine Journalisten. Und das ist auch der Grund, warum LLMs bei den Zeitungen so beliebt sind: LLMs sind fantastisch im Nachplappern. Das ist praktisch deren Kernkompetenz.

Traditionell wurde demokratischen #Parteien meist „Mittigkeit“ vorgeworfen, Angela #Merkel gar eine „Demobilisierung“ statt der seitdem üblichen #Polarisierung.
Doch inzwischen scheint es auch innerhalb der #SPD wachsende Zweifel an der #Rechtsminesis zu geben, wie ein neuer #Mitgliederentscheid zeigt.
Sehe das durchaus ambivalent, denn vor seiner #Gleichschaltung wären Debatten im #Bundestag erfolgt.

"Trump’s Campaign to Defund the Arts—and Rewrite History
October is National Arts n Humanities Month, a time normally reserved for celebrating the creative and intellectual currents that enrich our nation. But this year, the month began not with a celebration, but with a shutdown, the latest and most jarring blow in the Trump Administration’s long-running war against American culture.
In August 2017, I and 15 of my colleagues on the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities made a not so difficult choice. In the wake of President Trump’s shocking refusal to unequivocally condemn the neo-Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville, we resigned. We wrote to the president that his support for hate groups and the false equivalencies he pushed could not stand. 'Supremacy, discrimination, and vitriol are not American values,' our letter stated. 'Your values are not American values.'
We took that step because to remain silent would have made us complicit in his hateful rhetoric. We warned that his pattern of attacking art, the humanities, and the free press was pushing our country 'further away from the freedoms we are guaranteed.' We feared what was to come.
We were not wrong. What we witnessed then was a preview. What America is experiencing now is the feature presentation, a systematic, full-frontal assault on our nation’s cultural and intellectual life. This deliberate strategy is outlined in the Heritage Foundation’s 'Project 2025,' and is designed to replace our diverse culture with a single, government-approved ideology.
