  1. Ahora puedes utilizar el mismo inicio de sesión para largar las miserias de las empresas y pedirles trabajo. ¡Qué cómodo y conveniente!

  2. I cast this very powerful spell of unyielding genital lice over the leads at #Indeed + #Glassdoor. (ROLLS 19 🎲)

...for requiring a linking of Indeed and Glassdoor accounts AND requiring adding a phone number to even decades-old, established accounts (NOT VOIP, real mobile only) AND require a resume upload to view/browse.

Well here is a little piece my [private] resume upload. I sincerely hope their leadership gets those crabs.

  3. Burned out and going nowhere: the American worker is too mentally drained to even look for a new job

The résumé sits unfinished in a Google Doc. The LinkedIn tab stays open, untouched. For millions of American…

  4. I was going to take a look at something on #glassdoor, i've not been on there in a few years.

and it requires you to be logged in to see anything - this kind of defeats the point of being a supposedly ANONYMOUS review site but whatever.

what is WORSE is that it then asks you to enter a phone number.

The screen to do this looks like it has been designed to trick users into assuming it's for 2FA.

The small print reads "By adding your number you agree to receive calls and texts from Indeed"

  5. The idea of "too dangerous to be released" reminds me a lot of the Oppenheimer movie. We risk destroying the world: let's do it anyway.

What I truly can't understand is how people can be excited by the lies and blatant bullshit spread by some tech people.

But then, I remind myself how someone said he doesn't like smart people. And everything turns a bit more clear.

  6. Email from #GlassDoor:

Connect accounts for one easy login

Glassdoor is teaming up with Indeed to streamline your job search. We're introducing one login to connect Glassdoor and Indeed accounts.
Um. No. There's a reason I use separate email addresses (aliases) for each job-related site I have logins on: I don't want linked identities.

The "convenience" definitely doesn't override the value of identity-siloing (at least not to me, obvs). And your:
    Our commitment to anonymity

Your anonymous activity on Glassdoor, like company reviews or demographic information, won't be shared with Indeed and will remain anonymous.
Seems pretty hollow, at any rate. If I link identities, then all it takes is an accident for that anonymity to go "poof!".

At any rate, the "convenience" value-proposition is pretty freaking minimal, regardless, if your users are using some kind of password-manager to manage logins across sites.

  7. welp, abandoning my #glassdoor account, now.

I tried logging in. 2FA with email. OK. That worked. THEN 2FA with providing a phone number. NOT OK. But I use the service sometimes and I have a google voice number that isn't my actual cell number so... OK.

Then this shit. No opt-out anywhere.

    Nope.

I wish I could ditch #LinkedIn, too, but I'll probably be looking for another job for a while, so... ugh.

  9. Have a 🔥 question about AI, jobs, or entrepreneurship?

I'm in the @glassdoor Hot Seat today so hit me up with your spiciest questions: bit.ly/4m6tSYS 🌶

  10. #glassdoor #jobsearch #socialmedia #crickets

I posted a question at Glassdoor.com and got no answers. I feel my question is quite relevant and important, having to do with cybersecurity , legitimacy, and management of confidential information. But got zero input: glassdoor.com/Community/job-se

Given the persistent hacking, I often wonder to what degree am I gas lighted about what I see on the screen. It is very difficult to gauge reality through digital mediums.

  11. Indeed & Glassdoor Lay Off 1,300 Amid AI Push.
Job-search giants merge and cut 6% of staff, including top execs, to pivot toward an AI-powered future. Efficiency or irony?

  12. Huh, looks like Glassdoor just got less useful as they lean into a misplaced desire to become a social network like LinkedIn.

They've also now got the misconfigured Cloudflare bot detection that prevents me from using Firefox. 🤖

  13. Je vois que je ne suis pas le seul à utiliser Umbrella Corporation pour avoir accès aux avis #Glassdoor.

  14. Oh man, I almost cried laughing when I got this email. 🤣

Nice to see #Glassdoor has this process so automated there isn't even a human to do content review of the emails they send!

  15. The #glassdoor is a funny service. They offer to (only) deactivate the account on the profile page and hide the account deletion behing a link found on the Privacy page.

As EU citizen it feels very much like a dark pattern even if it technically may be legal.

  16. One month ago on #Glassdoor ... 67% would prefer not getting promoted but #WorkingFromHome #WFH

  17. Followup (since this message just got some new boosts):

    arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20

    techcrunch.com/2024/03/20/glas

From latter: "When reached for comment, #Glassdoor spokesperson Amanda Livingood would not answer TechCrunch’s specific questions, including how — if at all — Glassdoor verifies the accuracy of the information it receives, or how it can be used or obtained. Glassdoor does not publish a transparency report detailing the number of requests for user data it receives from law enforcement."

  18. Help me validate this idea?

There are so.. many.. #Review -type websites, like:

    #Glassdoor
    #Yelp
    #RateMyProfessor

Each with their own less-than-100-percent record of corporate behavior.

Could this be another killer app for #ActivityPub and the #Fediverse?

    What does the you think?

  19. @baldur Well these are initial investments into AI hardware & research right? (don't have a WSJ subscription 😅 )

I'm curious how the operational costs will turn out once the #technology is fully developed and if they are low enough to recover the investments 🤔

The salaries for AI engineers & #AI scientists & Server engineers etc. seem to be > 110k$/yr in the US according to #Glassdoor:

  22. "@Glassdoor pulls a 180 on users, requiring them to provide their real names to use their accounts."

Yup. I can't do anything on my account without first adding name, title, employer, phone ++.

    Can't even close my account.

#Glassdoor is now dead to me.

  23. When Glassdoor began, they were not entirely respected, but I almost admired their plucky, opportunistic stance. But now? I GTFO as quickly as I could. I've been deleting all of my US accounts over the past year, and I had almost forgot my #glassdoor account:

    arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20

Also, how fitting is it that their new logo has (questionably designed) quotation marks around it considering that now they want to literally quote and out the private you.

  24. I honestly have no idea if #Glassdoor outed anything I've written because I can't remember if I ever posted anything there and I haven't been able to get logged into it for the last 10 years without it demanding a whole bunch of information from me first, which causes me to just give up and close the site.
