G is for glacier, and this one is Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay, Alaska. We spent several hours in this fjord area in 2023 and got to see this glacier calving at one point. Incredible.

I've neglected uploading any photos from our #Alaska trip to Flickr until today, but that's now finally been rectified, and here's one from that fabulous break last month. This is Margerie Glacier calving in Glacier Bay, and it was just one incredible highlight among many incredible highlights. Alaska really did not disappoint.

I saw #MargerieGlacier on an Alaskan cruise in 2015. The Pacific Princess (not the same ship as in The Love Boat) sailed into Glacier Bay National Park. While heading towards to end of the bay to see the #glacier a small boat pulled up alongside us and #NationalPark rangers boarded to give us a lecture and sell us books and trinkets. They disembarked onto the same boat on the way out.

Phone snap from our balcony an hour ago. This is the Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay, Alaska. Our ship turned around just in time for us to see the glacier calving a large chunk of ice into the frigid waters; a fabulous sight and an incredible sound to hear as well.
Ketchikan tomorrow, a day at sea, a short look around Vancouver, then flying home to arrive Sunday.

Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve is by far one of my favorite parks. It's so massive and mostly untouched because the vast majority of visitors come in on a boat of some kind and don't stay long.
