    Finally got photographic evidence of Bombus californicus / California Bumblebee feeding in the great camas, just before the flowers finished for the year. Yay!

    I think this is a male, because it is small and shaggy instead of huge and velvety like the one I saw before, but I do NOT know what i am talking about

    Saw an XXL California bumblebee in the great camas today (bee not pictured). It's a fairly rare urban visitor around here, and this is the third year I've seen it in the yard.

    Nice to feel proud of something in my overgrown, neglected garden
