confused about #postgis ST_NPoints with polygons, because a triangle apparently has 4 points.

SELECT ST_NPoints(ST_GeomFromText('POLYGON ((0 0, 0 1, 1 0, 0 0 ))'));

From a technical point it makes sense, but it is also quite unintuitive, because normal people on the street would definitely say a triangle has 3 points ...

My #gisday is therefore at the office - and this is one wall of my office, all the things I have collected like a #packrat from my #engineeringgeology, #environmentalscience including nuke site cleanup, more - and now my #spatialhydrologist by osmosis

My #hobbyhorse I guess - but rather than being a 'traditional' GIS professional using software try to be someone with #appliedscience, #appliedbusiness, #appliedtechnology, #appliedcultural, #appliedcommunityservice, etc needs that are met by #GIS / #spatialdataanalysis, using a variety of #spatial & other #technologysolutions - more interesting work, better #jobprospects and less chance of #burnout
