Hype for the Future 146E: Sherman and Gilliam Counties, Oregon
Overview Within the State of Oregon, the boundaries of Sherman and Gilliam Counties are associated with county seats at Moro and Condon, respectively. To the north, both counties are bounded largely by the Columbia River, with Sherman County positioned further downstream than Gilliam County. While Sherman County is associated with United States Route 97, Gilliam County is exclusively associated with Oregon Route 19. -

The fire is now 500 acres per the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). Additionally, this incident is now known as the Ferry Fire (262).Evan Jacobs, Reporter

The fire has been located on the Sherman County side of the John Day River. Additional firefighting resources from COIDC (Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center) are en route and responding as of this post. Crews are actively assessing the fire. Updates on containment, size, and potential threats will be shared as more information becomes available. Cottonwood Canyon State Park is not currently affected by this fire. The park remains outside the fire perimeter, and no closures are in place at this time.Please stay clear of the area and allow emergency crews room to operate safely.
