  1. "know that another kind of #literary world, one that doesn’t traffic in blood money and self-interest but in solidarity and collective power already exists because we the people have made it so.” breachmedia.ca/scotiabank-isra

  2. @Athenalindia I am a huge fan of Toews. It has always astounded me that this very smart woman who writes so brilliantly to challenge the religious zeal of the patriarchy and the strength and courage of women has never won Canada's top literary prize, the #GillerPrize.

  3. @Amgine @winnipegfreepress "Reisman, Rabinovitch and the institutions they represent are responsible for jeopardizing the lives and livelihoods of arrestees, raining down professional, psychic and physical harm on those they’re attempting to silence." Yep! canadiandimension.com/articles

  4. "Please repost: three people who spoke up for #FreePalestine at @scotiabank #GillerPrize are being detained at @FourSeasons in Toronto. Let them go! Let them go now!"

  5. If looking to escape into a novel, you might enjoy one of the Canadian Giller shortlisted ones:

  6. This #BlackFriday and #cybermonday I went splurging for myself. More clothes and plenty of #books. 4 purchased today from Indigo were nominated, shortlisted or won the #GillerPrize. All Canadian authors with 3 of them repping the #GlobalMajority. I am literally a book hoarder. 🤣🤣🤣

  7. @mpotter Further to this. I met Giller Prize winner Vincent Lam after a book reading in Canada (vincentlam.ca/) and he gave me advice that is on point and parallels the "Kill Your Darlings" phrase.

The funny thing is, when I met him, he gave me this advice and every time I tried to remember his helpful words, I would say, "Vincent Lam told me that if he could give me one piece of writing advice, it would be... " and then I would blank out and forget what he had said.

A teacher friend said to me, "You'll remember the advice when you need it." And she was right. It floated in a year later when I needed it. And I'm sharing it here with you now: he said to me, "don't be afraid to cut material. SAVE IT. *It could be that it's writing for your next project.*"

    And he was right.
