The positive outcome of this battle is due to those who have experienced the consequences of repression, to the wider solidarity stream created, to the prisoners who chose to fight with the same means of hunger or thirst strike at my side. But the decisive contribution to every hunger strike belongs to those who suffered, were exterminated, murdered or maimed fighting with this means of struggle. To these people I owe my freedom."

Giannis Michailidis now on thirst strike

"On yesterday at 9 of June, the evening readings of comrade Giannis Michailidis, who is on his 30th day of hunger strike, were quite low and as a result he was transferred to the prisoners' hospital and from there at the hospital of Nikaia. He was informed that he would not be treated there and was taken back to the prisoners' hospital for treatment.After so many days of delays from the judicial authorities to respond to his requests, he decided to stop drinking water and start a thirst strike."

Today 8/6/23 while the anarchist comrade Giannis Michailidis is on his 28th day of hunger strike, resisting the regime of exemption imposed on him by the State and the judicial authorities, his blood sugar dropped to 47 and he was immediately taken to the “St. Paul” hospital for prisoners. He signed a paper to go back to Korydallos prison.

Our comrade, in the name of dignity and freedom, is again choosing the same torturous path which has already, it seems, created irreparable health problems. In this struggle, however, he has exposed the true face of the judiciary and continues to do so; all that remains is for us to support him in practice until he is with us again.
