  1. Is an isolator overkill when measuring a Gunn diode oscillators output power?
Not even the frequency, just power.

  2. The badly soldered .141 coax broke off one of the radio clubs test antennas. So I fixed it more proper with more appropriately sized coax.
Pigtail used was a random one from the radio clubs "SMA pigtails"-drawer.

Nice antennas with nice and flat gain too.

  3. Setup for setting setting up the power meters and the drive amplifier output power.

  4. :D 6.1eur BK4802 based radio from aliexpress has detectable harmonics up to ~12.5GHz.

  5. Made a quick combination of DC-block, volume control and BNC to 3.5mm adapter for testing a rather vintage Wiltron made 4GHz detector.

  6. YES!
    Band is not gone.
Not back to it's former glory. but not some evil joke like 25mW EIRP limit or something.
    But still very usable.
And unlike now, I should not have to buy back the band in 25kHz chunks if I want to operate on it.

  7. Had some fun with cheap modules and made a #5760MHz #amateur band downconverter from a #RX5808 5.8GHz #FPV drone video receiver module.

  8. Now this #OCXO module from ebay I hope to use with my #122GHz #VK3CV radio.
Should be good and it was decently cheap.

  9. Whee!
    No longer nanowatts!
    From -60dBm to booming -8.6dBm on 1297.500MHz!

  10. Hahaha! Guess what.
The BK4819 chip in the #Quansheng #UV5K radio DOES work on #23cm.
Just hitting filters (noise lump is from the UHF PA chain running full throttle on noise).

    Glorious -60dBm on 1297.500MHz!
    A whole 0.000001mW of it!

This beats the -75dBm we got from rtl_trx on 1270MHz (aberfoot unmodified rtl-sdr stick used as a trasnceiver).
I even worked OH3HMU on 1270MHz with an rtl-sdr stick So the power is kainda usable.
