Do you think the appreciation of, and fascination with, ghost signs is a form of 'nagori' as explained here?
Reminds me of the artist, whose name I can't remember, who installed a frame filled with freshly cut roses — the beauty was to be found in the decay/transition, much like the turning of the leaves in autumn.

Lovely pair (trio if you count the strange frame) on a wall in Céret, French Catalonia, sent to me by roving correspondent Anna Rothwell.
At the top is a palimpsest with the most prominent layer looking like "Salon Raymond, Rue du Commerce".
Below is "Chocolat Aiguebelle", which appears to be still trading with the slogan "Your favorite chocolate since 1868".

Can anyone make out the long word/phrase in the second layer of this palimpsest?
Layer 1 (rust lettering): "Whitebread, Earl Russell Inn"
Layer 2 (black lettering): "The Earl Russell, West _______ try"
The location is 143 Lawrence Hill, Bristol BS5 0BT (corner of Earl Russell Way) and the sign was revealed from beneath a billboard between 2019–20: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oKGDHEaDayoEB6ELA.

I‘m convinced that my cat defended me from a demon or ghost or some other inter dimensional being tonight. When I got to bed shortly after 1 am I turned off the lights and he jumped onto my bed and after a while I felt his body shifting or he let himself fall over and suddenly hissed at something in the dark and was immediately quiet after and lied down beside me. Thanks Rune.

Wow, check out this monster palimpsest from Poughkeepsie, New York. In addition to the dominant Uneeda Biscuit layer, there is at least one other for what looks like Liberty Tobacco.
Running across the top are two lines that seem to be "Biggest and Best ... On Land and Sea, You'll All Agree" but I can't tell if this is part of the Uneeda Biscuit sign or from a third layer. Any thoughts?

I'm working with @RoyReed on a reissue of our book, Ghost Signs: A London Story. Sadly this is having to report on some signs lost since it was first published in 2021.
This is one of them, now time-capsuled beneath the new, taller, structure that has been erected on the plot immediately in front of the wall.

@5teverin0 Definitely a palimpsest: Gold Medal signs overlap, and there are traces of other signs on the one to the right.
