Do you think the appreciation of, and fascination with, ghost signs is a form of 'nagori' as explained here?
Reminds me of the artist, whose name I can't remember, who installed a frame filled with freshly cut roses — the beauty was to be found in the decay/transition, much like the turning of the leaves in autumn.

I've had an enquiry about this fading fascia that has been retained in situ at 74 Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1*.
It's a palimpsest for R. Sullivan (Wardrobe Dealer) and what someone once told me were metal workers A. Liechti
Various street directories between 1882–1939 have a tobacconists here, including those prior to 1900 when the house number looks like it was 56. However, the Liechti sign also seems to have the number 58 or 68 on it...
The presence of 74 on the Sullivan layer means that that sign at least is post-1939, unless that business was a short-lived occupancy between two tobacconists.
Can anyone shed any further light on it all?

Working through updates to our ghost signs book* I was reminded of this one that proved somewhat elusive back in 2020/21. Can anyone find out any more?
Here's its current entry, with its transcription by @RoyReed in the alt text for what is his photo.
Hodgins
Clues to the provenance of this sign have been hard to come by, although Collis Removal Service was here in 1934. Possible Hodgins in the area are two Thomas Hodgins, father and son, who were coal traders for at least twenty years from around 1891.
